♥ Thanks for sharing this workflow, I had no idea this was a function in AutoCAD, I will definitely be trying this next time we have a flat survey CAD file. I think you are looking for the Filter function on the Data Tab to help you remove the non-Topography related values...

Yes, there is always a command or function in AutoCAD for anything. It's actually not critical to filter them out. Revit will just create those points at some wired spots and we can easily select them and delete them.

Very usefull approach if you have a cad file with including data … but the issue you don’t always have a cad file I will be very grateful if you can show us one day how to insert a jpg of a any site with labeled contour lines How to build a simple toposolid from scratch and how to match it with our levels in Revit (level 1, level 2, level 3, … site ) so the contour lines can be labeled properly (as shown in the jpg picture) without moving the building up or down Many thanks , Samer

I used to do this all the time at work when we only have some site map with contour lines. Just place points one by one to match the numbers on the map. Will probably do a quick one shortly.

@@BINHE615 To make the topo is very straight forward , the issue is how to get it to match your levels that you have in the project, so when you apply label the numbers will match the picture (fx, +42 000, +42 500, + 43 000 etc like what is shown in the picture) although your levels are just as normal fx 0.00, 3200, 6 400 etc As you told me before it has probably something to do with moving the project point together with all the levels so it matches the number you have in the picture, then at this moment if you create a topo and label it it will now show the real elevations like the contour lines in the picture I’ve tried before it works, but want to see your way to do it

I believe a few versions ago they changed how project base point work, not 100% sure what the best way is but I always prefer moving the entire project up to match the topo if it is still in early stage, or there is no elevations or section views with details or texts. If the project has already well developed and become too hard to adjust the level, I will just move the project base point and the topo down to suit the project, and make sure that the base level in the Label Contour tool is using the project base point for reference. You can also use survey points, not really know the difference since I mainly work on smaller project and do not need to worry about survey point at all.

@@BINHE615 It’s very true Bin, it should be at early stage otherwise it could be a hell Probably just after defining the levels and before creating the topo

Thanks for sharing! Is there anyway to bring the topo down to ground level so it corresponds with the building level that was set previously?

Yes, you can go to your elevation view and move it down. You might need to move your project base point for the same amount so that when you use the Label Contour tool it shows the correct height info.

Can you make a video on the basics of family creation in revit?

Sure, can you suggest what to model? And can you post in the shared document?

Yeah it’s interesting I use to be really fast in autocad, and to my surprise I forgot a lot since exclusivel in revit Which I don’t care too much off course I will never go back to cad

Sorry mate, I borrowed it from work, and I don't think it's suitable to share. It's actually very simple to create yourself. You just need to place some text with levels in your DWG file, maybe with different values.
