In my honest opinion this station would be greatly enhanced if it featured an emotional support dog tbh

Hi Wake, Just wondering how do you make trains on blender?
@Wakeful9 күн бұрын
I might make a video on this in the future (I've been away from all that for a LONG time now) but it's just a case of breaking the big problem (i.e. a whole train) down into much smaller problems (i.e. train > carriage/locomotive > bogies, or locomotive > cab > driver's seat etc etc) and having a checklist which you can tick off as you do small bits. It used to take me about a month to two months to complete a carriage or loco at a time, so by no means a quick process! I'd also recommend before you start that you have got plenty of reference materials - photographs are the best way of doing this, especially your own as you know what you need to photograph for the detail. Plus, some people including myself like to use diagrams as a reference, but others have different preferences and would solely use photographs as these can often be much more true to real life. The best way to go is to start with the cubes and start shaping it roughly by making cuts and extruding faces on it, and working the nodes by moving them into place etc etc. Additionally, ask yourself - is Blender what I really need to make a component of the train or can you make it easier and faster in say, Roblox Studio? Finally, you'll improve as you go on, so keep at it and keep practicing. You'll probably remake some trains a few different times. In fact, set yourself a small goal to start with - try modelling a train signal perhaps. Or a lamppost. Or something for the train, e.g. a seat or table. Hopefully this is useful; TLDR: start by getting photos then make a cuboid.

@@Wakeful Can you insert images etc?
@Wakeful8 күн бұрын
@irishtrainscenes1772 You can insert photos as references which are flat surfaces which you can still see if you change into wireframe view etc and can be very helpful when modelling something.

@irishtrainscenes1772 In the 3D viewport, press Shift + A to bring up the Add context menu. Hover over “Image” and select either Reference or Background. Reference will add the image as a plane object within your scene, edited like any other object. Background attaches the image to the current view (front, top, side, etc.) and is only visible from that view

Hi will i be allowed to film at yorkgate tommorow or is it like lanyon where you cant
@Wakeful9 күн бұрын
No, you would be welcome to film there. Just visit the wee Customer Support desk beside the barrier and ask whoever is there if you can film a few trains - tell them that you are a train enthusiast, when you will be staying until (I wouldn't stay for longer than an hour and a half or two hours, else move to a different spot like Whiteabbey or Carrickfergus, or even the bridge between York Road Depot and Fortwilliam if you have a camera with a good zoom), where you are going to be standing i.e. platform 2 which is for trains going towards Larne/Derry~Londonderry or platform 1 for trains towards Belfast, tell them if you are using a tripod or anything and that you will stand behind the yellow line. Listen to anything that they require but the staff are grand/friendly (I'm including myself in that!); just follow the rules and have an enjoyable time. Also note that there is a dispatcher on Platform 1 now. What time are you visiting York Street and I'll get you the empty passing train times from the depots?
