I am glad I am not the only one that has a racing mind when I go to bed and think about the earlier shop projects.

Thanks. It was a challenging project, mostly due to the logistics of a very crowded set of surfaces.

You can't beat having a "Y-Axis" automatic feed. Wish I had one on my little mill. Cheers, Aaron.

Those spring loaded stops are for the runout to have some give so it doesn’t hard crash into the blocks you made, specially when you’re running the Y axis at the higher speeds.

I was thinking about the same issue. I was limited by the brass stock I could get at a reasonable price, but it was not thick enough to reuse the spring loaded plungers. I might update this at some point in the future. To be honest, I am going to try to never hit the stops as it is.

That is a sweet center-finder; please tell me more about it.

If you are talking about the electronic center finder, it is a Fowler. It is very accurate unless you bump it into the material you are measuring. The shaft bends easily and I have destroyed at least 2 of them previously. Once you get used to them they are great, but you always have to be careful. They have a spring loaded tip version and it is somewhat protected from collisions.

Maybe instead of mounting the switch mechanism to the Y table, mount the switch to the knee and mount a slotted bar to underside of Y table, with moveable limit switches? Just thinking outside the box.

I like your thinking. I did consider that option and my final conclusion is that this mill was never designed for any of the electronic addons we consider sort of standard today. Everything is Jerry-Rigged on the outside of the castings with wires, sensors, and hoses all over the place. The knee is particularly busy. A proper design would have mounting places and cable management built in and glass scales would be inherently protected from chips.
