Exploring Abandoned Mines

Exploring Abandoned Mines

Күн бұрын

End of the year tour of our mining museum with operating machines that shows how mining is done! Exhibits come from hundreds of abandoned historic mines that we have explored and documented.
We've explored hundreds of abandoned mines in Canada the United States and Mexico, going places nobody else would dare to go! A New video is produced every Friday, check us out here:
• Newest To Oldest Videos
We do this for two main reasons:
1) Documenting the mines for future generations.
2) Collecting artifacts for our museum.
Mines are being filled in, demolished, and/or collapsing at an alarming rate, so it is crucial to document them and save these artifacts while it is still possible.
Check out our operating mining museum, We have thousands of artifacts recovered from abandoned mines. We also have many operating mining machines!
This is all about mining and mining exploration. Join us for our weekly adventures as we go deep underground into historic abandoned hard rock Gold, Silver and Copper mines. We relive the Prospecting, Gold Rush days, going back in history with every expedition. Visiting abandoned and forgotten places, climbing down mine shafts into dangerous mines, finding treasures, seeing antique heavy equipment such as ore carts, crushers, milling machines, ball mills, explosives and other mining equipment.
This isn't Minecraft but the real deal!
Come visit our Exploring Abandoned Mines Museum in Grand Forks, B.C. Canada. The museum is open to the public, free of charge, donations gratefully accepted. We have a huge assortment of mining artifacts accumulated from abandoned mines, donations, and other collections. We also have operating mining equipment on display.
Museum is located at 5615 Kenmore Rd Grand Forks BC Canada V0H-1H4. Best to phone first 250-444-0183. Come for a visit! www.google.com...
We have a merch site where you can purchase stickers, hats, hoodies, t shirts and mugs. New items being added. www.eammerch.c...

Very cool to see historic industrial artifacts properly preserved; restored, indoors, and operational in a hands-on setting. We had a museum like this near us, and it was a hit with young and old alike. Be sure to take the extra time and create an organization or trust to run the museum and care for the artifacts for generations after we are all gone. Too many private museums/collections get broken up and sold off once the owner passes on. I hope to make it up to see the museum someday Frank. Keep up the good work. :)

Great update on the museum, reflects the hard work you 2 are putting in there. The interesting thing I always think about when you see these old mines is just how life shortening they were to the miners through dust/noise/vibration causing ailments and of course with any hard labour activity just plain old accidents. Happy and Healthy 2021 to all.

Oh wow Frank the museum looks great, and well done Sharon in organising the sections it's so good. Excellent step by step education in mining and so interesting because you were able to show us the ore, tools and machinery. Love that you will be restoring/ rebuilding a gravity tram, a fantastic addition to your superb museum. Nice Job on the cleaning-up and sympathetic restorations. Top photographs Sharon - Appreciate that you share them. ❤️ Happy New Year! Looking forward to lots of new Frank and Sharon mining adventures. Take care and be safe. 👍🤩❤️❤️❤️

Hi Frank & Sharon, I remember when you first started your museum, it really is such a cool thing that you are doing by collecting and restoring all of the old mining equipment and accessories. It's one thing to read about or see pictures/video's of how mining was done back in the day, but it's quite another thing to actually see in person and have demonstrated for you all of the equipment that was once in use within the mines. Thank you both so much, because without you and others like you that have abandoned mining channels on youtube, people would only have a vague idea of what actually happened back in the day with how miners found and extracted ore. I wish you both a very happy and safe new year, much love. xx 🙏🤘🤗💖

Great tour, very informative! Missed the old Prince Albert tobacco tins found in older mines. Didn’t see a DuPont or Hercules dynamite box, used a lot in the States. Do you prefer ore cart or ore car? Saw a manufacturer’s plate once that called it an ore car. You have a fascinating collection and you and Sharon are doing a great job! Can’t wait for covid to end so you can return to the States. Happy New Year and stay safe! Thank you!!

Excellent video. In the early days the miners would have to turn the chisel every time they hit it. When they worked in teams of 2, one miner would hit and the other turn the hand drill. In the blasting of a drift some mines called it the 8 ft. Round drift technique. Love all your stuff in the museum and the signs. Thanks Frank and Sharon for that fantastic museum tour. Happy New Year.
