The company I work for installs those intake burners all over the world, well, the cold parts anyway. They are not usually for heating the air in the mine, alot of mines are hot when they are deep under ground. The burner is mainly to keep ice off the fan and stop the raise from freezing and getting blocked with ice. if your wondering how many Btu/h the burner is, they are approximately 1 million btu per foot of burner length. That one looked to be about 12 million btu, relatively small as far as raise burners go lol

Hey have u seen the rookie mine explore channel. He is in a plce called cerro gordo here in california. The host of the show is a good guy. I think you should look into his world of exploration. Maybe you can give him a coulpe of pointers. Being you and ur wife r such great people as well.

Thats what they call a direct fired makeup air furnace on that fan. They use them when you can exhaust 100% of the air you're heating. They burn huge amounts of propane. I see them all the time at mines we do west of Elko Nevada. Love to watch your shows. My wife's from Barrhead area when we go married 42 years ago.

What a year its been but EAM has continued to put out an excellent episode every single week🤘. Thank you both Sharon and Frank you're absolute troopers. There's a first for everything - entering a mine through the vent pipe!!. Love that you respect each others’ decisions, Sharon would've been waist deep. Appreciate the ad’VENT’ure😁, and your explore of all accessible areas. How cool was the fountain of water coming out of that pipe. Some nice colour bands in the rock too. It may have been more modern but still really interesting to see. Top photographs Sharon❤️. Take care, be safe. 🎄❤️🎅

Yes it has been an exciting year to say the least! I am glad that we were able to bring you along.

Having a heater on the air intake is a good idea since getting air well below zero blown in the mine would be a massive pain in the ass with all your equipment freezing up not to mention the miners as well.
@mfree802864 жыл бұрын
If the mine's wet that'll help dry it too. Subzero air will have next to no water in it at all, and the warmer you get it the more water vapor it'll take up. Just have to be careful to not load up with vapor when it's too warm or it'll saturate and dump it as it cools off further on, make that section absolutely miserable.
@jacquesjackcoomans22954 жыл бұрын
That would explain earlier in the vid how Frank picked up some pieces and was talking about looking like permafrost. Maybe as they got further digging the mine that’s what they stumbled on so gently heating up the air in the shaft would’ve allowed it to soften without a collapse. None the less, as nice and neat that the mine is, humid air would’ve made it hard to breath
@kasnitch4 жыл бұрын
30:49 if that had been a clump of vg, you would have known it by the tightening of your jewels Frank . the good stuff is unmistakable .. in mine lights it looks like a deep gold butter. we took to calling it butter we saw it so often . that was a well laid out and worked mine . pretty decent ground . wouldn't have minded working there .

Thanks, Frank and Sharon! Bigger mine than it looked, and most of the stopes were mostly hidden (they HAD to have core drilled and blocked out the ore bodies before driving the adits and haulage; the mine was just too well laid out!). We used go in a old flooded mine that was cold in the summer . wetsuits and waders ! down away from it was a old store with a pipe in a spring that folks stopped by and got spring water from it,,,One of our group saw the water get muddy when we were in there. it was a core drill pipe that hit the tunnel we were in,,, it was the pipe we tripped on each time we went in . we dug out the entrance with a small trackhoe and let the water out and that shut of the spring LOL ! Damn the locals were mad at us !! so they filled it back in 2 feet to hold water and get the spring running again . You never know what was left in a mine. Merry Christmas Frank and Sharon !!!!!

Hi Frank & Sharon, another interesting explore into the darkness, this was a very cool one actually with various things left behind. I don't blame Sharon, I wouldn't have gone in that cold water either, a very interesting and different entrance into it, I take it that was for the air distribution that you climbed down as you said the portal was plugged shut. It has been another fantastic year for exploring mines, I really liked the Yukon series as it was interesting to see the different methods used. Thank you both for all of the time you have taken and sheer hard work, not to mention bravery on a few of the explores, I hope next year is going to be an awesome year for you both and for us viewers too, much love to you both. xx 🙏💖🍺🦌🎄

I was following an explorer in a hip-deep water flooded limestone borehole. Big passage. Lots of high leads. I kept looking around. Heard an odd sound. Turned to find Mr. Saki had vanished. Then he broke surface, flailing about, so I grabbed an arm and pulled. Our muddy water had hidden a pit. Our exit was more cautious. We'd return with an inflated raft and poles to push our ride .
