2391 INSPECTION & TEST QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FOR EXAMS AND ASSESSMENTS - WITH FULLY WORKED ANSWERS

This LearnElectrics video is to help those of you that are taking Inspection and Test exams or assessments and want a little more practice before the day. Aimed at the 2391 style of question, it will, of course, also help those taking other electrical exams, as all learning is good learning. Or you may just want to add a little more knowledge to your mental toolbox, most of us do.
There are 8 fully worked questions in the video. Each question will have an answer provided, and you will benefit most if you pause the video, where prompted, and attempt an answer yourself, first.
The answers will be multi-choice, as in many online exams.
As well as giving you a worked answer, we will tell you why that answer is correct, why it was chosen and where needed offer an explanation and tips to help you, the logic behind that particular answer, why that is the correct answer for safety, function, and so on.
And we will also show you where to find the answer in the books. All books used will be to the 18th Edition, Amendment 2 versions, either a brown book, or with a brown stripe across the front and page numbers will be relevant to these publications.

Love how you explain it I wana know what books are allowed for this exam? I have searched online some say gn3 only and some say gn3 and onsite guide.

Your examination centre, where you are doing your training, will have a prospectus and details of the books, Some centres will provide copies of things like the EAWR memorandum and other booklets for you. I would recommend that you have your own copies of the Wiring Regs, OSG and GN3 so that you can read and revise from them every day. Don't leave revision until the week of the exam.

Don't bother looking for mock exams for the 2391. I literally did so many beforehand until I got to the actual exam where it was like it was a completely different exam entirely

Is there a way of doing this with just the guidance note 3 book as we are not allowed to bring the 18th addition book into the exam for the initial verification exam

Yes there is an equation for this. Its on the third slide of Question 4 and you will find that same equation in GN3 Chapter 2 part (v) Initial verification. You will not get questions in exams or assessments if the answer or help cannot be found in the allowable books. Hope this helps.

I have a question regarding section J of the eicr and same details on eic forms. Can you help me please? With regard to the section Main switch/ switch fuse/ circuit breaker/ RCD. What details are they requesting. Scenario 1. we’re testing a domestic fuse board. Scenario 2 We’re testing a 3 phase board fed from large 3 phase panel board. Thanks in advance.

Righto Shaun. Back from the Garrison now. EICR section I is way back at the incoming position. Then section J is for the board that you are actually working on. So, a three bed house fed direct from the street, I and J are the same thing, the consumer unit. In a 3 phase installation, section I is the board at the incoming supply and section J is the sub-board you are working on. Main switch etc, is for the sub-board you are working on, that is the board that you are inspecting, the board referred to in the report. Hope this helps. Please can you come with a video on this question; Two lamps are connected in series lamp A is rated 60W and lamp B is rated 100W. Which of this lamp will glow brighter if the supply voltage is 230V and why... Again Which of this lamp will glow brighter if it is connected in parallel with 230V and why...
