Why people hate him I will never understand. Genuinely the nicest hockey player you will ever meet. He'll always make time for fans, he'll never snub anyone. He loves spending time with little kids. Works really, really hard. Projects an perfectly clean image. You don't see him getting drunk in nightclubs. He's a role model for any kid growing up. He's the epitome of an athlete. People should celebrate him, not hate him.

Let me re-word that. My two favourite Pens players are "hot" right now. I've liked Dupuis and Malkin since they joined the team. Duper is an awesome player who has been underrated in my opinion. He's a stupidly strong skater and from what I can gather, an all-round gent off the ice which makes him very likeable. Geno is just a magician on the ice. He's been the Pens go-to guy all season, yes, but he's been a key player in years gone by as well. He has a LOT of assists on #87 goals.

God, I love Sidney Crosby. For who he is, he has to be one of the most humble people ever. Please let this guy be healthy and let him do what he loves. He brings so much joy to so many people and is just a tremendous person. "Guess we're all a little crazy in our own way..." that is one heck of a mature outlook for a guy who had millions of dollars as a teenager. Most guys in his position probably think more along the lines of "Girls, girls, girls(not that that's bad)". He is a true professional

I don't get how people can have such hatred for someone and be glad to see them injured. Wanna know why Sid's the best in the world (which he undoubtedly is), its because he works the hardest. Just watch him for a few shifts and you can immediately tell how much faster and harder he is working than everyone else on the ice. Penguin fan or not I don't understand how people cannot at least respect that.

Yes. All of the players you mentioned were greats. And all played entire careers. Bobby Orr's career was cut shot due to injuries. And still achieved numerous records. Imagine what he would have done if he played an entire career.

I'm not a massive Sidney Crosby fan, but I am a massive Pens fan. My favourite Pens player at the moment is Malkin, closely followed by Duper. I'm not saying I don't like Sid - I know that he's one of the most talented players on the team and despite being a bit cheesy at times, I have a huge amount of respect for him. I just hate to see him being hated on so much. He's done incredibly well for himself and for his team. He deserves the respect that he gets from Pens fans :)

Phaellos it could be but not necessarily. Some players like Lidstrom had completely different routine when he is playing on away games. A person with OCD would be someone who's been doing same thing over and over and would have a severe reaction if certain things aren't done in certain way to the point where he/she becomes not able to function. I don't think Sid would freak out or anything like that if he misses his pre-game rituals. He might feel uncomfortable for one game but he'll get over it for next game and jump back into his regular things like normal.

It's hard to hate him as a fan, I'll admit. I used to dislike him a lot but I always respected him for his skill and passion. But players just don't hate him for no reason. A lot of guys are different on the ice compared to off the ice and when the players and coaches think he cheapshots and and plays dirty then he probably does because they see things we don't. But he is a stand-up guy off the ice and I wish more people would see it.

Neutral standpoint here (Blackhawks fan) Crosby is undoubtedly the best player in the game when healthy, (Datsyuk/Toews/Malkin coming in after) and the game would be much better off with him playing night after night.
