Dude. I had a single cheeseburger at McDonald's today. Leaving school at 2:30 pm after missing lunch. It tasted amazing. I felt guilty until I had salmon and steamed broccoli at home for dinner. Sometimes you need a hit.

One of the better options @southstandsdenver3222, nice job! It helps with the hit, for sure, but good at getting back on the salmon and steamed broccoli after. Keep pushing Brother!

Great info! Regarding Panda Express, they have a white rice option that I like to include in a bowl with veggies and one of the proteins you recommended. Adding the veggies helps reduce the amount of rice.
@Fitfatherproject Жыл бұрын
Great insight @JohnTucker, thank you. The rice does add a lot of calories, so replacing as much as you can with the veggies is ideal. 👍

I don't eat out very often, but on my journey to lose 130 pounds through clean eating and exercise, I leaned hard on Qdoba and Chipotle just like you said (half scoop rice, chicken-double protein, veggies, etc (no cheeses or creams) and at Chick-fil-A's grilled chicken nuggets which I added to the kale salad. I make that Chipotle-style protein bowl at home all the time. Panda never seems to have the string bean chicken or super greens ready very often, but I've also appreciated that option. Changing my diet changed my life.

Loved this video. I hate fast food but as you mentioned, sometimes is all that’s available. My grandkids love, love Culver’s. Anyone have ideas in healthier choices there?
@Fitfatherproject Жыл бұрын
Hey Judy, thanks for writing in and we appreciate the kind words! With any fast food place, your best bet will revolve around either a grilled chicken sandwich, a salad, or a mini burger if need be. Culver's is no different as long as you follow similar principles (i.e. holding the cheese/mayo, maybe half the bun, as many veggies as you want, etc.) Best of luck! -The FFP Team

Cool video and great advice and suggestions. I personally try to avoid fast food places, especially McDonald’s, but I’ll give it a try with your suggestion. I loved the salad shaker back in the day, I would see quite a bit of people ordering it. I liked it when they had the baked apple pie, so much healthier. I live in Honolulu so some of those restaurants we don’t have, but good to know when I do travel. What about Burger King? They say they flame broil their meat which is healthier, but is it really actually flame broiled like how they advertise it, and just frozen meat with the grill marks?

I haven’t eaten at Subway since the news broke years ago that they used a bread dough conditioner that was also found in yoga mats. My go to fast food is the Carnitas bowl at Chipotle with grilled veggies, black beans, white rice, pico, and lettuce. Admittedly, I do sometimes throw on some cheese and sour cream but I’m already at my ideal weight.

I'm happy that I no need to care that much. You just need to find a healthy way of eating, but mostly mentally. I look very good and I'm eating worse than when I was fat. Fasting is perfect for me, and even if I eat 1k calories in fast food, what happens to me 1 or 2 a week, I don't care as I consume over 3k a day. If the rest of your week is ok, then what's 2 cheat meals in a week ?

What are your thoughts on McDonald’s Fillet of Fish?
@Fitfatherproject Жыл бұрын
Hey PY, thanks for writing in and great question! The Fillet of Fish is one of the biggest gut bombs on the menu! It is surprising because you think as fish it would be healthier. But the amount of breading/oil used, mixed with the tartar sauce, makes it a sneaky unhealthy item. We recommend sticking with the items listed in this video. Best of luck! -The FFP Team

Didn’t think mayo was as bad as you make it out to be being eggs, oil and depending on the brand added sugar. Tomatoes have almost 5 times the sugar than mayo per oz. I wonder about Jack in the Box tacos since that’s about the only fast food I eat and enjoy. Crispy and oily stuffed with mystery “meat”.
@Fitfatherproject Жыл бұрын
My gripe with Mayo is that all the fat in Mayo typically comes from low quality soybean oil that can be inflammatory. If you get avocado Mayo, it’s a totally different story. Calories are a part of the determination of a foods healthiness… ingredient quality is primary in my opinion. That said, from a calorie perspective… 1 tbsp Mayo has 100 calories. 1 tbsp ketchup has 19. And jack in the box tacos scare me 😂☠️🪦

Great question and insight! The sodium levels are usually sky high at fast food places...BUT...if this is your only source of restaurant food and aren't consuming too frequently, you should be OK. As long as you are emphasizing more natural, whole-based foods throughout the week, a fast food meal here and there won't destroy your progress, especially if choosing one of these options. -The FFP Team

For sure! It’s basically 500-1000mg sodium in any fast food meal. The good news is that you can offset the sodium by drinking more water. And if you’ve exercised that day, the added sodium has benefits.

Love your superb quality work but disagree wholeheartedly with this video … there’s never a reason to step in to any of these death premises. And taking children there should be off any decent parents’ agenda. Educate our young NOT to go rather than visit and choose the least but still killing danger food and drinks.
@Fitfatherproject Жыл бұрын
@kst157 - I appreciate your feedback. This video is intended as guidance on what would be the better choice at these restaurants, rather than a suggestion that they should make it part of their overall healthy eating plan. I understand that if people are out on a road trip, or particularly squeezed on time, then fast food is often the default option. Therefore, I wanted people to understand what to be on the lookout for, and that they can make a more sensible choice. I do agree that our youngsters should be educated that these types of restaurant are not the places where they are 'treated'. Thank you for your time, and your input.

Why do you keep mentioning calories? Please get some education from the great professor Bart Kay about the total nonsense of the "concept" calories as a metric for nutrition.
@Fitfatherproject Жыл бұрын
Having helped tens of thousands of people lose weight, I do believe calories are an important part of the equation. They are certainly not everything… but being mindful of calorie intake has proved insanely successful for myself and so many others. That said, I will still look into Bart Kay to learn more!
@JohnTucker Жыл бұрын
Calories are not "nonsense." It is a scientifically proven fact that if your intake is more than your output, you'll gain weight due to the surplus. If your intake is less than your output (deficit), you'll lose weight (up to a point, of course). On a balanced, nutritional diet, this is easily demonstrated. Having said that, I will wait to see what Dr. A. thinks about Bart Kay's perspective.
@andrewcrookes-pd1tc Жыл бұрын
Ok,im sure the good fitfatherproject has helped many people with his advice,& I'm not criticizing him in any way. But, if you look up the definition of a "calorie",a calorie is a unit of heat energy, we don't consume heat energy, we consume mass, so, yes, I agree with you that if we eat a lot of mass, we will weigh more, unfortunately,most people in the western world are on a standard western diet consisting of a too much carbohydrates, running their bodies on sugar basically, sugar drives hunger, therefore it is easy to over consume too much mass, that's where the concept of "calories in calories out", comes into to play. If however you use a ketogenic approach,"low carb ", and consume highly nutritious real food, which is appropriate to humans, your natural, satiety hormones will work correctly and gives you a signal to stop eating because you are full, therefore making it virtually impossible to over consume,"mass", . So to finish, sugar and or carbs makes you over weight, and eventually very ill over 3 to 4 decades from approximately 25 years of age, an appropriate, species specific, high fat, high protein, ketogenic lifestyle, will keep you a normal size, lean and more importantly, relatively free of Ill health all-round, mentally and physically.
