I am always amazed at how much paper toweling is used by people these days. My mom (born 1928) always kept a large container for rags near our washing machine. As clothing wears out but is clean… in the rag bag it goes. If it is a frayed towel or a shirt you keep cycling through as wearable, I use the scissors I store on the washer to cut through the item. Then I don’t end up accidentally putting it back into use as a shirt or a bath towel that a guest might see. In this day and age, recycling is no longer just to save money as much as it is about saving our planet. I am still using the ten-pak of paper towels I bought almost 9 years ago! I rarely ever use paper towels-most often for a pet mess. I encourage you and your followers to start utilizing rags more like our mothers and grandmothers did. I even keep two separate rag baskets… one for terry cloth towels and thick rags, the other for thread-bare and flimsy fabrics. These are then used for pet messes and other cleanups where you may not want to launder them for reuse. I save money and my planet with my rag usage.

@@ericasmith629 the 2 types with bendable arms, like desk lights. They have one shaped like a mini lamp as well with a shade and base $1.25. Thats not the type where you can adjust the light direction. All same price

Your friend, Nancy, could add a tension rod near the top of her new pantry and then drape the space with a nice piece of fabric to match her decor to hide her pantry contents. I’d add a large command-style hook at the side (with pretty ribbon) to pull back and tie off the drape if she’s going to be reloading or pulling several items at once.

Be sure when you dump a container of something into a new storage container like you did with the oatmeal, that you remove the cooking instructions and tape to the container or put inside. Otherwise you are throwing away the proportions of what you need to prepare that item. I know most of us should limit plastics, but the good thing about using a plastic bin like the ones you showed for the bathroom is that it can catch spills and then it's easy to remove and clean. The tap on light switches are good to add in very dark spots when placed above the light switch so if the power goes out, you don't have to search for a flashlight and can at least tap that light and you can see in those dark spaces.

Finally yesterday, we saw a dollar plus section in a Dollar Tree that is a little farther than I hoped. I went there hoping to find the pink container for Specific areas in our home. I need 6. That store had none, but they were more organized and cleaner than the had been in the past.

When I get overwhelmed I break it down to one small task (like just one drawer or one cabinet) or set a timer to 5 or 10 minutes. Oftentimes, when I set a timer, I end up keep going until I'm done but to start, it's a great motivator.

Did you see the New Year Plates at DT. You write all the bad stuff that happened in 2023 on it and at midnight on new years you break the plate. The second one you write all your resolutions on it and keep it displayed 🎉. It comes with the plate and marker ❤

Kathryn, I watch you cleaning & organizing and I remember the days when I loved to clean! Being in a wheelchair makes it ridiculously difficult. Any suggestions on how people with limited physical abilities can achieve organization at a reasonable cost and most importantly, is easy to keep clean. Decanting everything is not practical for me, however, for some things it's ok. Everything has to be within reach and kept close to where it's used. Sometimes I look around and think, how do I get there? (organized that is! lol!) I'm sure I'm not alone.

I'm amazed at how much stuff I buy and because I'm not looking to see if I have that product all ready, so now I've cleaned out under my kitchen sink, declutter empty bottles, and scrubbers, and doing on shelf at a time in my laundry room , so I don't over stress my self and I can take my time looking at my stuff and keeping those products I use and those I've stopped using. 😊

i'm 24 years old and i've never had a bedroom of my own, i always shared with either my sibling at home or with roommates in college. i finally have my own room and i'm so excited but decluttering and organizing feels like such an overwhelming feat since im autistic and disabled and without my own income. i hope one day i can feel happy or at least peaceful walking into my bedroom rather than seeing a big mess.

I need you. lol I just moved into a 1100 sq ft house from a 1900 sq ft house and I am overwhelmed. I recently had back surgery and can’t bend, lift or twist. My youngest daughter has been amazing however she is being pulled from me, her son’s other grandparents and her father. Everyone is disabled and she works so hard to help everyone plus keep a full time job. Your ideas are amazing.
