Another great video! Other important verbs are download, upload, sign in, sign out, sign up. Sign in and sign out means the same as log in and log out. Sign up usually means to create an account on a site like Google, Yahoo, etc. It opens a form for you to fill in your data.

More great examples. Thank you Artur. Jaime just suggested another useful one too - hover over. Maybe one day we'll have enough to make another video.

Simple English Videos hover over - I dont’ know what this means. Hover is similar to float, right? Usually over the water. Hover over suggests sliding your finger over the screen
@SimpleEnglishVideos7 жыл бұрын
It's when you put your mouse on top of something but you don't actually click. Sometimes when you hover over web objects they react so for example, they might change colour or shape.

I confuse between hook up and plug in.They both mean the same thing or not? Thanks. I'm very happy to watch your videos.
@SimpleEnglishVideos6 жыл бұрын
They have very similar meanings Art AK and in some situations they're interchangeable. E.g. "Is the printer plugged into/hooked up to your computer? You could use either verb here and it would mean the same thing. Plug in is a bit more specific. It's reserved for when we connect electrical equipment to the main supply of electricity or to another piece of electrical equipment and it's about placing a plug or connector in a socket. Hook up has a wider range of meanings to do with connections. Again we can use it to talk about connecting equipment. But we might also hook people up to the internet or to IV drips.

Is this right? :O Thank you so much for your efforts ♥ I really do appreciate that! *____* Jay should get rewarded with an oscar! Beste male-robot actor :D

In the context of making electrical equipment start to work, I'm afraid I'm not sure what the difference is Stefanie. I'd need to research it.
@zedreck71526 жыл бұрын
Switch on is the same as turn on and switch off is the same as turn off. I guess there’s just more ways of saying it. Turn on can also mean many other things too. I usually turn on/turn off things that don’t have a switch and switch on/switch off things that have a switch and not a button, but there’s nothing stopping you from using either one or the other.
@steffis44806 жыл бұрын
@@zedreck7152 Thank you very, very much for your explanation! That just makes sense to me, since some devices have a switch and some don't. And yes - there are indeed a few other situations, where "turn on/off" could be used *girlish giggle* Thaaaaaaanks a lot 😍😍
