Your experience with butterscotch reminded me of college days in the 70s. In 1970 my buddies and I got an apartment moving out of the dorm where we were fed two to three times a day depending on the meal plan. Our folks were sure that four guys cooking for themselves would be dead by Christmas so they would send food and other things in the mail . One roomies Dad owned a delicatessen in the Polish area of Chicago. I lived within an hours drive of home so I would make a run for Italian food and Mexican Chili or invite the guys to eat at one of the restaurrants at home. But the father that really came through fr us worked at H.J. Heinz in Pittsburgh.. He would send us foods that Heinz made for schools, rest homes, and other institutions Among the freeze dried chicken nuggets and the drink powder were gallon tubs of chocolate, vanilla, and butterscotch pudding. Well the choclate went fast. The vanilla a little slower, and there was only one of us that liked butterscotch. But at some point that big tub of butterscotch and its newly arrived brother had to be dealt with, and not wanting to waste free food, we other three joined in. Under protest mind you. But free food is free food. To this day I cannot look at butterscotch anything.

Oh man, I really miss Screaming Yellow Zonkers! They were just the best! Like a sweet, buttery popcorn you wish you knew how to make for yourself now that they aren't available. Love: Twinkies, Fruit Stripe gum, and Ding Dongs. Got a little worried when Twinkies were mentioned, hoping they hadn't been discontinued. But, there was a cookie that I've been missing for years called Pogens. They were ginger cookies that claimed if you placed one in your palm and pressed your finger in the middle and it broke into 3 pieces, your wish would come true😊

Well that brought back some memories though I passed adolesence before a lot of them were popular. I was never into Twinkies but Chocolate Cupcakes and Ding Dongs Oh yeah. I'm 74 and still have a Ding Dong from time to time. I miss the Hostess Pies. My favorites were cherry, apple, and lemon. Their substitutes by other brands don't come close to the flavor and the filling of those Hostess Pies. i never tried Screaming Yellow Zonkers but Fiddle Faddle (Shown but not mentioned) was a favorite snack when I was in college. It's buttery caramel flavor was better than Cracker Jack which uses molasses. As for puddings, there again, we seldom had puddings at home . My Dad favored strawberry or raspberry Jello with fruit cocktail suspended in it. My mother would make a double batch and put it in a big covered salad bowl that took up half a shelf in the fridge. But one thing my kids liked in the 80s was Pudding Pops and Fruit Rollups. The one candy bar that I miss is the old Mars bar-chocolate covered soft nougat with a lot ( 6 to 8 ) whole almonds encased in the chocolate.YUM. Love to see a series on the old salty snacks-crackers etc. There is one I remember as a kid that my mother bought and just loved. It was a cracker sandwich of bleu cheese spread between two waffle cut open spaced crackers. As I kid you couldn't give me a bleu cheese anything to eat ,but as I've matured I love all forms of bleu cheese and would like to see if someone remembers them or knows if anyone still makes them or an equivalent.

"Freshen Up" gum came out when I was in HS and was popular in college. People used to call it "cum gum" for obvious reasons. As for "Ice Cubes," they didn't have a cooling effect. The candies were smooth chocolate and hazelnut squares-think "Nutella" but less sweet and with more flavor. My Uncle Pete used to keep a bowl of them on his living room table.
