Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. Tell me about wood firing. I have a Disney 4-4-0 and an OS Mogul both with small-ish fireboxes like your RRSC American. Are you using Oak? What tips and tricks could you give that lead to strong steaming... Great vid!

Very nice to see a woodburner in operation. I'm building an early Shay to run on 7 1/4" in the UK and most of my fellow Engineers don't think you can run a loco on wood without being constantly loading it into the fire box, you seem to be running without being overworked so I'm going to stick with it.

Thank you for your comments. Running a wood fired loco is a lot of fun and generates comments from anyone who sees it. Don't let others talk you out of it. You will enjoy it. I have a copper boiler and an arch in the firebox. The arch makes a tremendous difference with performance. Good luck.

Mine's a vertical fire tube boiler, I'm thinking of putting smaller tubes at the centre and larger round the outside to choke the draft at the centre. Also a larger fire hole for the timber. What's the water capacity of your boiler? And finally I hope your loco is still running well.

All that high quality aluminum track just laying out there, waiting for a scrap metal collector to pick it up one night, after midnight. Cut it up into short lengths & turn it in for CASH! Instant $4000.

I think that they make money with the railway that they have. I won't bother looking it up, so there is no point in tearing it down.

sfoular73 Some opportunist needing money will be there to tear out some track for their scrap metal collection. It is like picking up cans on the side of the road! Paid for by weight they collect! Makes some great excitement!

+Curt Wakeman What you may or may not think of me is none of my concern or interest! It happened out west somewhere about 20-25 years ago. The boys came in with their junk only to find the track had been picked up over night & gone. Expect it all got cut up from the saw filings found & hauled of to a scrap yard or melted down & sold for raw material. Nice!

+Cockroach You failed on this one. The railroad is in a private location. The railroad's rail is hard to rip up, and not worth the time for the effort. The Rail is aluminum, but not quite pure, bringing refining cost up. Also, you said you didn't care about ride on trains ya hippocratic ass.
