Hey bro fellow mainah here.. when I gotta stay overnight in one of those I put them insulated moving blankets from harborfreight you can drill your holes by where the seams meet its not perfect but it helps retain heat enough to help you stay warmer but not so much it melts the ice out from under you for a midnight swim

Dang! Love this one also,amongst all your others.. cause of your desire , be careful Jesse , thats those nights that I worry how the heck does the animals and birds survive.. Survival of the fittest I guess.. How did the indians do it Glad you had an extra tank of gas… but , Im sure you didn't get too many winks that night.. great quality footage! Movie material for sure! Love following you ! Oh, btw, I loved seeing your dad out there. He's a nice but tough looking guy. But, smart in getting back out of there.. guess he trusts you a ton! Thats some serious dead cold! Oh, love the photos of footage of the Rime Ice frosted trees and brush. Cool stuff.. We call it hoarse frost here. Take care and warm up. And thanks again!

Thanks, Jim! I've always wondered the same and after that, it's truly hard to believe even with the heater. Granted it wasn't a big one it was hardly keeping the chill on in there. As for my dad, he said he's had his fair share of trips like that and wasn’t about to do it again. Can't say I blame him. at least i did it and it made for a fun edit that lack of fish made me have to get more creative with it

Awesome Video! That heater might be a little small. Kudo's for staying and braving through. I get a lot of flack on my channel for pulling traps at dark and not fishing them during the night but I also learned the hard way it's very hard to keep a check on them and it allows a chill in the bones when you have to go out and check, tend, or pull after dark. Great video!
@MainelyOutDoors2 жыл бұрын
I’d say! Time for a bigger one! Unless I’m after cusk I typically do what you do. Not worth having to check them and I’d hate for a fish to be on there longer than need be if I do happen to not wake up to check them. Can’t wait for tomorrow, see you out there!

That is just crazy. Found out those insulated tents aren't what they are cracked up to be huh. LOL I went out on a house fire once when it was 35 below. Every piece of equipment was froze. Great video as always. Definitely upgrade that buddy heater to at least a 150k BTU kerosene heater. Haha. Those smelting jigs are pretty interesting and simple. I've been fishing with a buddy that uses hacksaw blades as the pole. The smelt bites the bait, bends the blade when it pulls, and then springs back straight, setting the hook. I do prefer the direct method of feeling the strike, though.
