Maritimers definitely take pride in their region more than anywhere else in the nation, I'd say!

There was another one in 2019?! Or do you mean the one back in 1917?

I did all these things except the seafood restaurant. Other fantastic ideas I've done: Discovery Centre, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, the Natural Museum of History, & the Harbour Hopper.

@@maysmith4906 Thanks for the local tips!! I was only in Halifax for the one day so it was a pretty full day with those four attractions! 😃 I’ll have to check those out next time I’m in town.

One other important fact about Pier 21 that you forgot to mention was that all the Canadian soldiers who served overseas during WW II, left on ships from the pier, and also returned to Pier 21, before getting on trains to go wherever else that they lived in Canada. For those unfortunate soldiers who never came back home, Pier 21 was the last image of their home country.

great video. Halifax been on my radar for a while. What time of year did you go? I saw your previous video of the thick fog up top the views lol. Did you try the ice cream at the restaurant? The sign best ice cream in canada, now thats a claim worth testing!

@@JJMA52 I visited in the fall, so the video is a bit late in coming! The project had originally been shelved due to so much of my visit being impacted by Hurricane Lee, and not getting to visit other stops on my agenda like Peggy’s Cove & a harbour cruise. Ultimately, I decided to release the video! PS - the ice cream is actually inside Cow’s, which has a store at the front of the pier. It’s not part of the Cable Wharf restaurant - but I did try some! It’s more of a PEI thing, but they have a branch in Halifax too 👍 Check out my Charlottetown video if you want the full Cow’s experience!

If you are planning to visit Halifax or Nova Scotia, please do not. Because local government does not like tourism, they are not welcoming tourist. The local government make new law to prohibit resident to operate short term rental form their property from 2025. If you like to visit Halifax, be prepared to pay 200% or more cost per night for your stay in hotel instead of Airbnb or booking from 2025.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and your concern as a resident of Halifax. Halifax is expensive enough as it is, so it's unfortunate if AirBNBs will be limited and people forced to spend top dollar in the city's limited hotels. Tourism will definitely take a hit - I agree!

The vacancy rate is near 0%, and AirB&B contributes to that. They should have been better regulated. Glad to see it finally come. Plus the fact that AirB&B's are very expensive and not great value anyway.

Hello, I’m a resident of Halifax. Currently, our city is experiencing a rental vacancy rate of 0%, which poses significant challenges as the homeless population continues to grow. While Airbnb was intended as a short-term solution and has been restricted to affordable housing, operators can still offer rentals for 28 days or less. Additionally, there are hotels located outside of downtown Halifax that often provide more affordable options compared to those in the city center. Halifax has much to offer, and we take pride in welcoming tourists.

It's a shame that prices have grown so high. Let's hope the probable incoming government will address some of Canada's major immigration and housing issues, and return our country to a semblance of normalcy.
