Live in the EV for 5ish years and was so sad when I had to leave. I have always thought of it as quiet and calm. No skyscrapers, no stadiums, even Broadway below Union Sq. feels less frenetic than it does in midtown. I recall a particularly rough day at work once in spring 2012 and I left the office really strung out, anxious, and without even thinking about it I headed straight for the East Village. I wound up having a solo beer in the window of Swift and just listening to strangers and watching the world go by. The calming nature of the EV really helped me calm down and take everything in stride. It's the best neighborhood in Manhattan.

Lived in NYC in early 2000s. East Village and LES were my favorite neighborhoods. When I visited in 2012 I was shocked at all the families that now live there. Then I visited in 2018 and was shocked at all the hotels that popped up. If you don't like your NYC neighborhood just wait 10 minutes.
