Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment. We discovered the world of “travel hacking” & became obsessed. So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world. Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with this lifestyle and did everything we could to keep going. 4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time. Van life was a major adjustment and so different than flying every week like we were used to, but we are incredibly thankful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎
00:00 our craziest “bed” yet…
01:11 packing our sleds for the night
03:20 trekking over a glacier
06:56 our ice cave home
14:11 our “bedroom”
18:15 coffee in the cave
19:24 hiking during avalanche warning…
23:45 Best travel hack we’ve seen!!!
24:58 bloops

I've been a loyal almost 5 year subscriber of your channel, and I just wanna give Nate a shoutout for embracing every challenge, taking it so positively, and giving his all out no matter what, together with Kara being a supportive partner. This really speaks volumes about Nate's character. It's almost like he embraces being in difficult and unique situations, and that he craves for these challenges. Way to go Kara and Nate, proud of you!!

I love your adventures especially up North! :D Just one little tip from a Northern outdoors guy (or a physicist could also tell you this); The ground absorbs your heat. You need a 2 cm. layer of air or something that doesn't lead away heat to prevent that :) Your 2 foam mattresses may do the trick but it's really impractical (edit: for longer hikes). If you plan on hiking and doing so when it's cold, bring an inflatable mattress. You'll never get cold (as long as your sleeping bag has a decent/fitting comfort zone). :) Also tents are the worst possible way to sleep during winter, if you have the option of digging a snow cave. It only protects against the wind (and snow I guess). Not the cold. (Edit: a properly dug snow cave will always converge towards 0 degrees celsius regardless of outside temperature) An inflatable mattress is more important. I've slept outside in -5 c and 25 m/s on a mountain and it was fine, cause I had a proper mattress, bag and a Jerven-duk (outer cover, it can also be made to improvise a rain cover or similar). Also always have extra wool shifts and an even extra one of socks (so that's what you're wearing +2). Use wool. Dunjakker/boblejakker (those coats I see you wear in some parts, they're filled with feathers and warm but:) are not fit for winter activites. Wool is! Use many layers. Wool+something else+thicker wool sweater+some GoreTex jacket is fine, you'll not get cold. Eventually a 5th layer of wind jacket if it's windy. Wool is also self-rinsing naturally and don't really need washing to begin with. "Ull er gull" (Wool is gold)! Please consider a 1-2 month hike in the Norwegian mountains/mountain plateu! Even as a Norwegian this is my dream (as well as kayaking from Oslo to Finland and from Oslo to Northern Norway) I've had several-week long hikes in the mountains but I want to be out for 1 month or more. Never get tired of it, both the experience and people you meet is amazing.

This is like the old Kara and Nate , the reason I started watching your channel and every episode. The past 3 or 4 episodes show the crazy adventurous situations you put yourselves in . I'm only making this comment because it was dissapointng to see the constant mention of the amount of the cost , eg. The train and the Special cabin you had , the absurd costs flying first class on the Emirate planes .. Seemed you were catering to the 1% of adventurous travelers... No mention of prices you pay , just the adventure is a lot more pleasant to watch .. No need to be Bougee

That was an amazing adventure. I'd love to see a compilation of the top ten crazy / interesting places you've stayed. Isabelle looked like a she had a great sense of humor. She seems like a fun, adventurous kind of girl.

I have lived in the Arctic and sub Arctic my whole life. Honestly, there are few things worse than winter camping. Kudos for having done it!

This was a great way to pass the time while we wait for our train in the Mosel River Valley. We have been the only people sitting on the train station platform in Moselkern waiting to go back to Cochem. 😉 Thanks for another great adventure guys!!!

Eva ZuBeck just posted a video too! Her, Kara & Nate are my favorites of all these travelers. I’ve also subscribed to other channels that are friends with these guy’s & sometimes they do trips together that are really phenomenal and usually hilarious too. I’m so glad to have these for honest entertainment instead of tik tok, Facebook and Twitter. Not to mean they’re not entertaining, just in a different way.

Those ice sculptures in cave are called as stalactites and stalagmites. The form because the rock is made of limestone and water passing through rock gets calcium oxide and falling down it frezzes. Sometimes it forms pillars too!
