In today's episode, we spend 24 hours living with the locals in their tiny village in the Solomon Islands. Our journey begins in Santa Ana, a remote island in the southern Solomon Islands, where we prepared for a one-and-a-half-day sail up to Honiara. Once we arrived in Honiara, we were picked up and driven for 4 hours to the remote village known as Aola. The crew and I were a bit nervous to go so far off the beaten path to a place that no tourists ever really visit. However, we were extremely excited to experience a totally different and unique way of life.

Our mission is simple: Sail the world while giving back to the remote communities we visit along the way. Every 2-3 months we bring a new crew of novice sailors on board. People who want to explore the other side of their comfort zone. Well, we take them under our wing, teach them how to sail, and explore some of the less explored parts of the planet together. We really just ask one thing of them: help us leave the most significant impact possible along the journey. Amongst the many islands and communities we have visited, we have met some of the most positive, kind, welcoming, and innocent people imaginable. These people are often so generous and special, however, they often times lack basic necessities - proper clothing, health care, medicine, etc. We want to have the most profound impact possible. But to do that we need your help. First, subscribe to the channel and join the community. Second, consider joining our Patreon or donating on our webpage to help us cover the high costs of maintaining the boat and our travels to these remote places.

Betel nut does increase BP .(also Perspiration/tachycardia to name a few) impacts.Thus,those with heart issues should not chew betel nut.There are other eye-witnessed senerios that people chew bettle nut n after few mins of ingestion, they fall on the ground & rush to the Hospital n later collapsed..(And they still blaming the melanesian Devil😂)

Wow, girls! Amazing video, and what a great adventure for you all again! It’s interesting how you got used to waking up to the sounds of the ocean, and now sleeping in the village is weird 😆 So happy to see there are people like Virginia, even in the most remote places, to spread change and inspire others! Keep up the great work, ladies! 🤩

You're all so brave to live in a boat, how is that? Are the waves big? What about the storms? Does a boat can capsize? 😳
@SailingRippleEffect
@SailingRippleEffect 7 ай бұрын
Haha well, as Doc always says - the people will break before the boat breaks! Our 47-foot catamaran is built to go around the world and can handle virtually any ocean condition. With that said, it's all about how we as sailors respond to the conditions we encounter. If we don't make smart decisions in high-octane moments, the boat can certainly break in catastrophic ways which of course includes...capsizing.

Another super video. As much as you guys enjoy it, It gives us a glimpse into the Lifes of those that can benefit from our years of research how to assist remote communities spread out in the Seven Seas. I hear a petrol generator running, it use petrol. We can change that to run on biogas. The way they cook on open fire. That can be changed by constructing clay rocket stoves, which not only use less wood,but it burns cleaner and less smoke for eye damage and lung issues. Their staple diet is the biggest concern. Micronutrient deficiencies can lead to all sorts of illnesses. A biogas digester can take care of the genset but more important, it provide ultra rich fertilizer so they can plant more diverse crops. That will again solve the lack of probiotics as they can preserve their harvests through fermentation. Betel nuts also contain p-hydroxybenzoic acid and mixed with the right vegetables and some spices can actually do wonders. But more research is needed in this field and also the mindset .

Wow thanks so much for all of these insights! I take it you study sustainability and nutrition? It would be great to connect and chat more about lifestyle solutions for people on these remote islands!

@@SailingRippleEffect Hi, yes, it started with Biogas research some 20 plus years ago. From there it branched out in two sections. how to utilize the gas and then whats can be gained by using the rich effluent.And obvious it is now all about growing more healthy crops in natural conditions and not using commercial fertilizers, not to mention pesticides and herbicides. We are poisoning our bodies through what we eat of which glyphosate now plays the role of number one enemy besides crops that through chemical manupilation,is forced to ripen qiuckly,grow faster with less uptake of vital micronutriciens from the soil. That is why about all stuff on the shelves are tasteless and just waterbags.. around the World. Commercial farms is all about mega crop production,using roundup irrespective of the damage it cause,hunger force people to eat this garbage produced.And that is also where these remote communities are extremely exposed, they must take whats offloaded by who ever support them from land. Fast forward, if we can get all the blue water sailors into this,imagine what we can do. Once in a area where there is good connection,maybe we can arrange a skype or zoom video call.

Among so many other highlights, it was eye-opening hearing Virginia talk about the gender inequality she's experienced. I'm sure she's a role-model for the girls in her village. I hope she never stops speaking her mind.
