Great documentary! I'm from Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province - I've lived in Sydney since 1997, I miss my extended family and our beautiful forests; a hike in the national parks in Australia is the closest I get to wandering in nature and appreciating the fresh air. Wantok lo Sydney, Ohusapa

Saya pernah dua tahun bekerja di pedalaman sana. tepatnya di kimbe, autuvo, sera & vanimo. Sepengalaman saya disana benar benar kacau. Sangat disayangkan, padahal alam & laut mereka begitu indah.

I cried and didn’t want to go home by the end of the week. The people are so wonderful and the land is absolutely gorgeous! Now, I got lo the time! This documentary was shot probably 20 years ago. There’s a big development and social change in the last 20 years. The Highlands highway had drastically improved. Lae has a massive facelift with concrete roads and a 4 lane highway to the new Nadzab airport 42 km outside of Lae. Lae’s no longer a pothole city.

Thank you so very much for this video. I’ll treasure it. I absolutely enjoyed this video. It has some familiarities to country life in the Caribbean. I felt I was a part of the journey with the truck drivers. I was sad when the people were and happy when they were. I understand from other comments this is an old video I’m watching in April 2024. I have got to visit PNG. I feel a definite connection to those people and their way of life and struggle to survive. I love the terrain, even the treacherous roads that lends a certain excitement to the journey from one area to another. I wish the very best for PNG and its people.

I live in Australia and visited there in the 1970s. Even then we were advised to be very careful where we visited/night visits etc. We dropped a new car off for the buyer in Mt Hagen from Lae. We were advised not to stop if we hit anything, human or animal, as the natives would appear and kill or severely wound you. Yes, it was an adventure for sure but we made it. I guess as it was a new car there was little chance of a breakdown. Lots to talk about it but in summary a great place to visit if you want an adventure but not for a restful holiday type break. Go to Fiji for that.
