17:00 Jessica from How to ADHD has a "parking lot" (small thick spiral notebook) she keeps by her while working, so she has a place to "park" all those thoughts for later and free up her mind for the work at hand. Btw, you were a good mum this morning, too, even if your ideal structure wasn't achieved. ❤️❤️❤️

That looks so hard, wow, you're doing a great job at showing the realities of parenting thank you. Its also so cute seeing you be a mum, you're so animated and I feel like we're seeing a different side of you we don't usually see. The lack of sleep though!!! How are you doing that?? Isn't like just a few bad nights of sleep really bad for your health!!

1. SUCH a cute sweater. The burnt orange is a lovely color on you! 2. I also recently discovered the joy of paneer and my life is much better for it. 3. Coming a non-parent chaplain perspective, I think it's okay to feel guilty/frustrated/frazzled about things we wished we'd done differently for the people who are important to us. I think the harder bit comes from trying to also remember that doing the best we can with what we have is an act of love that is just as valid as when we feel like we absolutely nail it. 4. Six Months Into This Malarkey is a band I would follow.

Now onto my third child there’s no schedule anymore for naps. We just go with the flow and when she’s tired she sleeps, whether that is in my arms, in the pram, in her cot, in the car.. Working well for us and a lot less stressful. ❤

I totally relate to how challenging those moments of feeling out of control are. Having some predictability makes things feel so much easier and more manageable, but those out of control days seem to be an integral and recurring part of parenthood with young children. You're doing great!

These are the Golden years of having kids,I love and adore my almost 12 year old son and have enjoyed watching him grow up but miss how much he was so cuddly and now cause of his age he isn't so much, but having his baby brother and having those cuddles and story times is a joy in itself and brings back such fond memories of my eldest son at this age. My littlest prince is 4 and a half months and chatting away, smiling and laughing and it really is such a joy,I can see how much you and your hubby have that beautiful close bond to your son too,it's so heartwarming to see.

This was so lovely to watch 🥰 I loved baby days so much. You say you feel like the morning was hectic but I'm in awe - you went out to something before then also going to work! At that age I had a strict approach of one 'thing' a day and otherwise I had zero ambition. You're doing amazing! Watching the joy on yours and Dan's faces when you play with Rowan is just beautiful 🥰

When I was in the thick of mothering a baby, I felt so so much mom guilt all the time and felt like I had no perspective and had this idealistic vision on what life shouldve been like and it caused so much issues. I feel now like part of it is just embracing the chaos. It's so hard in the moment though, so I could really relate to you around 15:30 in where you were talking about feeling down on yourself about how the half day went. Youre doing an amazing job, even on the weird/off days. At least you went to a library activity, I never did anything like that. Their routine is so random and it's impossible to have it perfect each day, babies are just a huge lesson in letting go of control.

This just validated my current experience SO much!! My baby was born a few days before yours. Also a FTM, exclusively breastfeeding, and bed sharing the majority of the time. My life is literally nap and feed maths on repeat. And my night times look a lot like yours! I would say about 4 hours is the maximum I have managed to sleep in one go since she was born too. And that’s only happened a handful of times 😅 I hear so many other mums of similar age babies getting so much more sleep and I feel like I’m doing something wrong. To see this makes me feel more normal 😊 thank yoooouuuuu!! 🙏 Ps. I’m a similar age to you, from England, and also have IBD (Crohns). I relate to you so much and have watched your vids for years 😊😊

My experience when my daughter was young was the same too! She's now 3.5 almost 4. Youre not alone. 6 months in, still about 4 hrs max sleep at night and I felt like a failure because she was a "contact napper" and contact sleeper. She was a bear to get laid down, turns out that's just how babies like to be--call it instinct it's cute but also maddening. I still havent started trying for a second.

I watch ALL your baby videos because I find the reality of parenting fascinating! I've been going back and forth between wanting and not wanting kids for years, when I see the cute little Insta posts that make it look so easy I wonder if maybe I should; but seeing your vlogs and the reality of parents absolutely affirms my decision that I don't have the patience, or staying power for parenting. 😂 Thank you for making all the stressed mum's feel less alone, but also thank you for showing the reality of parenting so that people like me can make informed decisions on whether to have kids!!! Rowan is adorable and both you and Dan are amazing parents, but I lost my shit multiple times with a puppy that kept me up in the night and that was only for a month!

I’m exhausted just watching you get up to feed him so many times at night. 😮‍💨 I tried breastfeeding but due to supply issues at the beginning, being unable to keep my baby awake long enough to get a full feed, and DMER I had to switch to formula. It was extremely upsetting letting that go, but all the extra sleep has been great. 😴 She just turned 7 months old, and is suuuuper chonky now with the formula. 🥰 The constant mental arithmetic related to timing naps and getting things done is for real a huge struggle. 🤦🏼‍♀️

i love watching you being a mum after seeing you try for a baby and the pregnancy. my piece of unsolicited parenting advice (please ignore if it’s not wanted!) is that upping rowan’s food intake during the day now he’s six months old might help him sleep a little better during the night if he’s waking up hungry! xxx

It is super interesting to me to see how people handle babies' sleeping schedules in northern countries. In Spain babies are put to sleep much later in the evening (think some time from 9 to 11) which means that the initial long sleep overlaps more with the parents' long sleep. It does however mean that the parents don't get alone time in the evening after they put their kid to sleep, the kid just hangs out with them until everyone goes to bed. It also means generally the kid will wake up later in the morning rather than at 6am.

Right now with the sleeping baby on my lap and the two prescoolers peacefully asleep I'm like: why is Hannah so hard on herselfe? She is doing such a good job. Did I also get this stressed back in the early days? Then I remember how like 10 hours ago I called my husband crying because I didn't get anything done and the baby was in such a bad mood and why can't I handle everything better:D The Mom guilt and the Mom brain are both so real. Thanks for sharing and you really are doing such a good job! Also as a sidenote: all our three babies were super chill but never slept/sleep well at night. It really is so hard, but the two big kids are amazing sleepers now! There ist hope!

You’re doing great!! We’re in the same boat with the night sleep, haven’t gotten longer than a 4/5ish hour stretch in the entire 11 months 🥴 but more often it’s every 2 hours, especially with teething and growth spurts. Bedsharing and breastfeeding makes it easier because we all get back to sleep faster. I know night waking is protective and natural but woof. Recommend the book Sweet Sleep from La Leche League, it has really helped with my mindset.

Also this is just me being pedantic but just a tip for your video editor, if you’re writing the time based on the 24 hour clock/military time (so 20:00) you don’t need to write PM as well, it’s either 8pm or 20:00 :) probably only me who’s noticed this tbh 😂 Loved this video ❤❤

Pausing at 4:42, and I'm wondering what this is like for Rowan. From Hannah's perspective, she wants the camera to not see Rowan's face. But Rowan doesn't know what a camera is, he doesn't understand that the camera can "see" things and that the camera isn't supposed to see his face. So from his perspecitve, does it seem like he isn't supposed to see the camera? Why is there something mummy doesn't want him to look at? Why is he sometimes allowed to look at the camera (when it's not filming) and sometimes not (when it is filming). It must be very confusing to be a baby. The world is so strange. Adults do all sorts of things that don't make any sense.

The battle of figuring out nap times/feeds etc when you need to be somewhere for a certain time is such a stress! I managed a nap dream feed last week as she was due a nap at about 11. But we needed to leave at 12 for baby class. Managed to get her to nap about 20 minutes earlier than normal, dream fed her so when she woke up it was nappy change, coat on and run out the door! We have rhyme time at my local library but it's at 9.30am and half an hour walk. There's no way I can get up, get her ready and me ready and have the first nap and be out the door for 9am 🤣

Looking at it from an outside view as a non-parent, I can't imagine it will have any lasting impact on Rowan that you had to interrupt his naps. I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on sleep teaching/training? I had my baby the day before yours and was really struggling with nap refusal and a very over tired cranky baby in daytimes (feeding to sleep stopped working) so worked with a sleep consultant at about 5 months old and it has been life changing. And this is not to say that you should do it at all… just interested in your opinion. We all have different thresholds of what we can deal with and I was not coping well! You are doing an amazing job and I’m in awe of how positive you manage to stay x x

I sleep trained my babe at about the same age too, and she quickly went down to one night feeding. 6 month olds do not need this many feeds, but will since it’s habit/comforting. My babe just goes back to sleep so easily now, she doesn’t miss the milk, she’s usually barely conscious now when she wakes up. I respect that people have different opinions, but I definitely couldn’t deal with all these night wakings any longer than I had to. She goes to sleep easier and quicker on her own than when we rocked her to sleep as well.

I was going to say this too! It’s really fast to do a quick defrost, it’s not like defrosting a steak or something! It just takes a few minutes.

@@rachelle2227 You are supposed to use it straight away if you defrost it that way. She could totally let her childminder know that though!

Fun fact from the midwife I work with:a baby doesn’t sleep through the night because the breast milk you produce at night contains different levels of nutrients that they need for growth, and it’s how their body keeps them well hydrated and fed. Breast milk also helps boost their immune system

Idk if this is a video you're already planning or not but I'd love to see you do a video about breast feeding and like... how it all works i guess? you said at one point about how you "felt your breasts going" and as someone who has never breastfed before I'm confused about how that works and what you meant by that! :) - Also explaining about like pumping and all that stuff aswell would be super interesting and I'd love to learn about all that :)

If you’re worrying about being a bad mum please read the book “there are moms way worse than you” by Glenn Boozan. It’s a short, funny and light hearted book that really puts it into perspective ❤️ love your videos Hannah!!!

I also have a 6 month old. I laughed so hard at some parts as we are the same. :) We still bedshare, but my son rolls over so easily now that I don't think we can do it anymore. Time to make some big changes. :)

As a childless person: very big fan of those videos, gives me so much info on the Parents Lifestyle :D A question from an uninformed viewer: is exclusive breastfeeding somehow more beneficial (than for ex you pumping and having Dan feed him during the nights)? Or just ur personal choice? Watching you I'm amazed how well you manage all that, great job, don't let mommy guilt tackle you!

So nipples are magic! Pumping and bottle feeding is wonderful and (having done both at some stage) far more mentally challenging, but the baby's saliva tells the boob what milk to send. The milk adapts to time of day, growth spurts, illnesses etc so the baby can be a lot healthier by getting exactly what they need. It's incredibly cool

I thought I was the one that liked the "hand in the forehand" hahaha amazingly calming! God, got tired just seeing how many feeds you had to do in the night! I would be happy if I handled it like you! or 80% haha you're my hero, you kept this baby happy, fed, safe, healthy...and you left the house, did things, went to places, ...!!! love from Spain! Xx

This is very old- school, I know, but we had to stop picking up the baby (babies) in the night and let him cry for a while till he went back to sleep. Heart wrenching, but it worked.

You are doing so well with things. I am not a parent, but Terry Pratchett had one of his character state something along the lines of put food in one end, keep the other end clean and let everything else be what it will. I can’t remember the exact quote, but that is the general thrust of it. By the way I just popped my cherry on using affiliate links in videos for the Hello Fresh offer. I’ve let mental health get very poor and I’m subsequently living on take always. Figured I’d give it a go as it takes some of the guess work out and I’m spending more than the amount hello Fresh charge on takeaways each week. Really hoping this will get me feeling more well and back on some kind of track whilst also decreasing my weight as it’s ballooned since the takeaways became the way to go. So thanks for the link, and congrats on having my affiliate link virginity I guess. Keep up the great work.
