The Shashemane land grant was not only for Rastafari people, but really for any of the slave trade diaspora, especially those who had supported Ethiopia against the Italian occupation. It is associated with the Rastafari because they were most enthusiastic in response to the land grant, and their veneration of Emperor Selassie

The Ras name is Charles Reuben. We were at his repatriation party at the 12 tribes HQ in London UK 16 years ago. This is a sad sight to see. Thank you my brother for giving him something. Thanks for noticing that. A few "Rastas" there are a disgrace to the community, and to the whole movement. On my visits there I noticed that a few times. TRUE Rasta movement is about self-reliance, and independence. After being there over 16 years, couldn't he set an independent foundation for himself😳? I don't think he is from Jamaica. No REAL Jamaican Rastas are like that. He needs to TRIM!...and STOP calling himself Jamaican!

thanks for showing . the rastafari is actually a small peoole to fillup the city and we must not demand the city to be always filled with them. they can move every where in ethiopia and live and also other ethiopians can live there. the whole jamica population is around two million, and small are rastafarians and more less came as rastas and and settled just in shashamane.

You seem to think that ancient Yemen had a racially and culturally distinct population from Eritrea/Northern Ethiopia. But Damaat (pre-Axumite confederacy) was not controlled by Sabaa, and there is some scholarly disagreement over whether the center of Sabaa was originally Yemeni or Ethiopian. BTW, people associate Sheba with Africa because Sheba is named as a descendant of Kush in the book of Isaiah.

Great content, bro! I was disappointed though with the very first rasta you met, the one who was asking for money to see his children, or something like that. He came across more like a rascal than a rasta. Begging should be below rastafarianism and self-determination at its core. Fortunately, he appeared to be the only one of his type.
