24 Overlooked Heroes Awarded Medal Of Honor - Full Ceremony

During a White House ceremony, President Barack Obama awards 24 Army veterans with the Medal of Honor in one of the largest Medal of Honor ceremonies in history. Each of these Soldiers' bravery was previously recognized by award of the Distinguished Service Cross, the nation's second highest award; that award will be upgraded to the Medal of Honor.
Congressional review and the 2002 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) prompted a review of Jewish American and Hispanic American veteran war records from WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During the review, records of several Soldiers of neither Jewish nor Hispanic descent were found to display criteria worthy of the Medal of Honor. The 2002 NDAA was amended to allow these Soldiers to be honored with the upgrade in addition to the Jewish and Hispanic American Soldiers. The ceremony recognizes these 24 men for their gallantry, intrepidity and heroism above and beyond the call of duty.

It is quite remarkable that there are so few views, and I believe a lot of it has to do with politics and the history of unjust or unwarranted wars of this country. Despite that fact, partisan politics play no role (or little role) in this, and these people deserve the award. It's sad they didn't personally receive the award while they were still alive and able to. But history is full of thousands (or millions) of stories of heroism, where that heroism was never recognized (or was never properly recognized).

Not all the awards were posthumous, did you watch them read the citations? I haven't gotten through them all yet, but Model of Honor citations are usually pretty amazing. The radio operator who singlehandedly took out multiple enemy bunkers to save a bunch of wounded guys in Vietnam is pretty impressive! He was just there to handle the radio...

You can actually. As Marine who served I can tell you you cheapen these awards when you hand them out like candy for political reasons. Many awards given out By this "president" were for political reasons . The military service decides who rates these awards-the military service that these men served under and were familiar with them at the time and the situation on the ground that the others who received awards were judged by. I'm not impressed -there are political motives to everything this leftist does.

What diminishes this ceremony is that the man who presented the medals is married to a woman who was never proud to be an American till her husband was elected president.
