There is an interview with Jacoby (voice only, I think) that Jacoby talks about how they were actually looking for someone to remake 'Last Resort' for the 20 year anniversary. If I remember right, Jacoby said he approached a couple of people but they couldn't/wouldn't - then they approached Ronnie and Ronnie said, 'I'm in'. The song was released a couple of years after the anniversary of course - but that was the story Jacoby told in the interview. I found that interview on KZbin, so I am pretty sure you could find it. Anyway, yeah, so when Ronnie took it to Jacoby & band, they new he was doing this but Ronnie wanted them to hear it first, even though it was unfinished, to get their approval. Ronnie took it very seriously, the ask that Papa Roach did. He wanted to honor them and the song.

Watching the video of Ronnie showing the rough version to Jacoby was so cool. You can see how much he wanted Jacoby to like it

Papa roach's version sounds like metal and anger.. But then... This.. This song.. The way Ronnie did this.. it made us realise the sadness of this song...

As for the visual effects and where this was shot: It was shot at one the outdoor sets at Universal Studios in LA. I've seen this set actually in a few tv shows and music videos, more recently the K-Pop music video "Flowers" by Jisoo used pretty much the exact same spot. As for the visual effects, in this kind of scenario there won't be much (if any) green screens used. This kind of effect is called a (digital) set extension. Green screens can help for details, but they would need to be way too big to be used in a case like this. Instead the matte painting, which seperates the foreground from the unwanted background in the footage, is done by hand (supported by software, tracking, color keying etc.). That slapped together with some nice 3D renderings (which contains some rigid body simulation in this case) that is matched to the camera footage -> done (explained in a very, very simplified way). Fun fact -> At 3:53 in the reaction (2:37 in the music video) you can actually see the visual effects shot in the background cutting to black 2 frames too early before the scene cuts away. Sorry for nerding out :D

I believe (I could be remembering wrong) it was shot at Universal Studios and the upper building levels are the green screen. The director, Jensen Noen goes into details about all of his video shoots on his Insta.

Ronnie is an unbelievable artist. From what I've seen, he also pays for his own videos.

Y'all should do the other reimagined tracks if you haven't yet, they are just as impressive.

I don't think I will ever dislike something that Ronnie sings, I love the original song and I love this version, what an amazing voice!

There's a BTS video for this song. Ronnie is actually standing on top of a building. Everything above the level of the roof Ronnie is standing on is CGI.
@deannamarie83897 ай бұрын
Only the top of the buildings are CGI. They have clips online of them shooting this video, he is legit standing at the front corner on the top of a building.

Actually Jacoby asked a few different bands to redo the song and Ronnie got it done incredibly quick and Jacoby was blown away so obviously this is the one that was released. While they were on tour Jacoby said his wife called him crying and he asked what was wrong and her response was "I just heard Ronnie's release". Ronnie said Saraya called him crying also. Just thought it was a cool story.

let me tell you that for every video i have a little graph called audience retention, and you can visually see whenever I pause a song because half the people click away every time

lol the entire thing is green screen! tons of cgi which suprisngly cuts a budget by alot. ppl always thinking he spends the most, in reality hes probably spending less doing the work on pc and standing mostly infront of a green/blue screen!

Not that my opinion matters in the slightest... But am I the only one who thinks this cover is absolutely awful? Love the original and all that but this is like Last Resort done by the John Lewis Christmas advert team. (sorry for british reference)

Ronnie is an amazing talent who can sing anything! I've been around for a while and each rendition has a different tone; I prefer this one! The video is on KZbin where Jacoby loves Ronnie's rendition.
