From what I can tell, it doesn't matter if you live next to an oil field. I've moved around all over red sands, and everywhere I've lived in that region I've been able to pump oil out of the ground.

you need stardust source for gear calibration and craft (activators, ammo, so on). but if you have too much, u can also sell it to players using vending machine

wrong location probably try to move your base to another place. look for dark oil puddles, and build next to them

well, you can buy stardust source for example to craft deviation fertilizer to grow deviated vegs and cook top food like 25% damage, for example
