New firmware came out a couple of days ago for the XG270. Strobed mode is MUCH better now since you can choose different brightness levels depending on how much blur reduction you want. Also on my particular unit I’ve found using 225hz with custom timings seems to be the sweet spot where there isn’t too much crosstalk while using strobed mode. Loving it for csgo, though I know the gold standard for the fastest csgo monitor is still the BenQ xl2546s (though worse colors)

I’ve read your comments on blur busters too and have been wanting to try this at 224 or 225hz custom resolution but I am totally lost on how to do it! Please help! I’ve tried with the amd software and icu but it just reds out when I change refresh rate and won’t let me actually save it. I’ve never customized monitor settings before..

I've got the 27gl850 and its the best deal out there bro. 1440p 144hz IPS 1ms response for $450. The difference between 144-240hz is negligible. Much better to have the extra pixes with a 1440p to notice small details.

Great review! Even though I bought a different monitor (AW2521hf) before coming here, I'm glad I did because of how you hit all the important areas to me in this particular video. There are some reviews that are too indepth, and others that in my eyes only skim the surface; yours (at least from this one vid) strikes the perfect balance.

@Ryan Matias WITHOUT Gsync enabled it is terrible at "Extreme" overclock. Terrible as in it's unplayable for me. "Fast", which is actually the standard level, has no overshoot, but at the same time I don't notice an impactful reduction in input lag. Maybe a TEENY bit, but nothing that has got me thinking that "it should be better than this..." With Gsync enabled, I hear great things about it. Look at Too Much Tech for their review (albeit the test was done at 120hz in Fortnite, not the full 240hz that I think the test should have been conducted in), and /r/PhyloGG on Reddit who is one of the most generous folks when it comes to describing his experiences with the monitor so far. If you're wondering why I don't have Gsync enabled, it's because I'm still on Windows 7. :D

Never owned an ips panel b4 and highly thinking about this one. I have an asus rog swift 24inch panel 180hz. I really had to make adjustments for the color and had to even look at recommendations from websites b4 I found one I liked. I just want to be out of the box and almost perfect.

Mistake you made: The XG270 does not have the native G-sync module. It's G-sync compatible. The XG270QG on the other hand, does.

So you mentioned that to achieve the 1 ms response time overdrive would need to be on, im assuming that there are different options for overdrive which can change how much quicker the pixels change, to achieve the 1 ms which overdrive preset/setting should be on? I was thinking about buying this for competitive.

Do you think the performance difference of the XL2746S being 0.5MS faster is worth getting over this monitor? I have a tough decision to make right now to step up to 240hz but I have never been on a TN panel. I've been gaming on a 165hz IPS monitor for the last 5 years and now I want to play CSGO more competitively but in no means am I going pro. It has no G-sync Nor FreeSync. It's literally made only for 240+ fps games like CS:GO etc. Get the Asus rog swift pg258q. It's just as fast and supports G-Sync. All the pro's use it and if you fall below 240 fps in more demanding games you wont get screen stuttering and tearing cuz G-sync ;)
