I must say from finding this podcast a few months ago (Dan Carlin ep) to now you two have become my favourite listen across all platforms & genres. Great host chemistry, running through each aspect of the topic in enough detail for an avid armchair historian to be satisfied with but not too much detail that I’m ever tempted to hit the +30 seconds KZbin double tap. Excellent stuff, keep it up. I’d love to hear a Faulklands war series with some details on the lesser known parts; Chile’s involvement, the prelude and post defeat Argentina, the international reaction & support/lack of support etc

Diamonds were not discovered in the Transvaal but in the Cape (Kimberley). The De Beers company was named for the brothers De Beer but not formed by them but by Cecil John Rhodes.

Regarding the British not negotiating a treaty scince the American war of independence...The British did infact have to negotiate the Treaty of Waitangi with the Maori 1840
