Super fascinating, packed with equipment - what a cool explore and a very fitting finish to the 3 part series. Thanks to you both for sharing your knowledge and the adventure. The photos help us to see the minute detail that is sometimes missed in filming when there's so much to see. Take care and be safe. 👍👍 ❤️❤

The pointy bit was the end of the innertube that collects the core from inside of drill rod. When you drill the inner tube is locked into the drill bit attached to the drill rod. As you drill the bit is like a dounut, it has a hole which allows the core to enter the inner tube. All this time you are pumping water down the inside of drill rod. The pointy bit allows a latch that is attached to steel line to snap onto the inner tube and pull to surface with core inside. Diamond drilling is hard work, lots of steel slivers.

Hey Frank Those baskets for the clothes . I was in one at a very large mine . It looked like a scene from Alien . The walls were over 50 ft high . The room 50 x 50 . Could accommodate over 250 people at one time . The light was always dim in there and the walls looked like sheets of Jade . Very Strange . In a Cool way .

I remember going into the Park City mine adventure when it was open here in Utah. They had a huge change room like that. It was great going underground and seeing how they did it in the old days and modern day's. Unfortunately they closed it down. Park City mines produced Silver and other minerals for over 100 year's. Now the only gold produced is from the high priced houses and ski resorts. Beings how I'm in a wheelchair I may never be able to go into a mine again other than watching Frank go in.

Hi, Frank and Sharon, Thanks for taking us along on the FANTASTIC Explore of this mine as they are proparing to update and restart some of the operations. I've never seen so many muckers, slushers, skip cars, drills and ore cars in the same mine. The miners will have a lot of work ahead of them to get some of this equipment back into operation condition, and I hope they will salvage a lot of the rest for museums. God Bless and stay safe andkeep preserving the mining history.

Good info, give it to us. Looks clean, ready to go, get that silver. Brand new set-up. Intact equipment. You know "the Drill" right hand rule. Nice Dynamite boxes. Thanks for explaining the routine and orientation of the ore cars to the mucker till they fill all cars for ore or the not ore materials. Hey, tell them they can come back ASAP, get busy. Wow, this gets better and better. This surely is set up to go now, as it seems, wow, awesome. Seems if you can hear the miners coming back from their break, if they get one. This was awesome.

Thanks Frank and Sharon. The company will most likely have a difficult time finding experienced miners as new underground mines are few and training of new miners nearly a lost art. It's plain to see in that particular mine that mine's needs to have plenty experience and talent to do the many tasks involved. (To stay alive for the next shift!)

Pretty insane to think that you were working hard for weeks, months and years with this company or just as a miner in general then one day you meet up, have a morning meeting to be told you have to go home. Empty out your locker in a ruck sack, taking down all the pictures of your children, your colleagues and some of the types of days that made you shudder and to think its over. One last walk in to get the clothing you left behind and pack up the trailer and truck say goodbye to your fellow mates and leave to never come back to mine a day again at this mine. I've seen a very few of places where instances like this occurred and it just boggles my mind that to some this was then end of their journey and to others they either got promoted or started a company themselves. I have no words to explain the emotion that I feel, its daunting with sadness but curiosity tickles the throat as you wonder where are they now? What importance did they bring at that time frame, and so many other questions that will forever be questions.

I have experienced that several times throughout my life in one industry or another and it happens more than the average person knows. I can promise you one thing... it doesn't happen the way you think it does... it's just another day and another job... life experiences is what they are called. You learn to embrace the struggle and the changes life gives you head on.

I worked at a big company manufactured a well known product they used a bull horn at 8am told everyone to go to a large open area. Plant manager just stood on a ladder yelled to everyone in a bull horn all laid off go home. They handed out 1 print out of paper with the phone numbers of unemployment office on it this was early 2000's. The reason for the closing was entire operation was being offshored to China. We kind of knew something was up because for weeks we saw Chinese walking around the plant looking at everything asking questions.

Sure enjoy these videos :) I never worked in mines but my Dad did tho mainly he was a blaster for road building and other above ground work . He also sold explosives for years working for CIL and later Prime and Titan explosives . I worked a few years road building as a swamper (blasters helper) drilling with airtrax and tank drills . Also quite a bit of rock drilling with hand drills doing big boulders was prob one of the hardest parts of the job besides hauling p gravel for stemming holes . The handgun drills we used sometimes were about a 100lbs and on a big Boulder starting the hole was sometimes super sketchy 🤣 you’d get already holding it as best you could with your boots pinching the bit and hugging that drill as tight as you could and then hit the trigger and wham 💥💥💥it was tricky stuff 🤯🤯🤯 took a few spills off a big rock with the drill while learning lol .. sometimes it would take two guys to start a hole . Once you get the steel in several inches then it was fine and once you could get a leg over top 👍🏼it was even better ... it was long time ago I did that , I was 18-21 years old .. Anyway I’m rambling ... 😯thanks again and keep safe bro !
