@corzarguy10 жыл бұрын
gingeckle I disagree, they need to be balanced since they have a bass and drum thing going on with Avi and Kevin, also with the vocals whoever is in the lead they need to have them put up higher. That's why I get annoyed when the mics are not balanced correctly on live TV because they always perform amazingly but the mics seem to let them down, but when they are done well my face implodes into love

Between the official video for "Love Again" and this live performance, I actually prefer this, probably because it lacks the distracting visuals. That said, when I saw the official video, I wondered whether the super low notes were created by a type of Tuvan throat singing called Kaagyra, and it turns out I was right. What I didn't expect was that it was actually KEVIN singing those low notes WHILE beatboxing. Don't know why that surprised me; it has become a common technique among beatboxers, BUT the result is that ONE group has TWO singers who can each do a DIFFERENT type of throat singing. CRAZY COOL!!!
@wolfdashbear10 жыл бұрын
It's called throat bass. It is used by many beatboxers for dubstep and similar things
@OmniphonProductions10 жыл бұрын
wolfdashbear"Throat bass" is a term commonly used by modern beatboxers who are, for the most part, unfamiliar with its Tuvan/Mongolian origins. While Kaagyra works GREAT for dubstep, it can be used by any singer to expand one's lower range by nearly a full octave. Anyway, little piece of trivia about "throat bass" origins.
@OmniphonProductions10 жыл бұрын
Dm Domini I actually learned Kaagyra in college (1996)and finally "got it" after watching a film called "Ghengis Blues" about a decade ago. By that time, I had already been beatboxing since the mid-1980s. I was so proud when I realized I could blend the two concepts to add deep bass to my beatboxing. Imagine my surprise when, everywhere I turned, I started hearing other beatboxers doing "throat bass". I'm not saying any of them got if from me; it's just cool that so many of us "discovered" it around the same time, and it's mildly amusing that most beatboxers don't even know about the technique's origins. Anyway, when Kevin turned out to be the source in this song, my response was, "Well, of course it's Kevin; most modern beatboxers do that." Knowing Avi does Tuvan (a style called Sygyt), the surprise was NOT realizing it was Kevin; it was realizing it WASN'T Avi. Now, I just want to hear Kevin throw down the ultra-low notes while Avi creates the whistle-like overtones with his style. Between the two of them, they could create a five-octave spread...if not more.
@kemushichan10 жыл бұрын
Same here! I was like... "who is singing all of those notes..." :D KEVIN?!
@utubeseiz10 жыл бұрын
I think it is usually both of them (watch Avi during that part in the live video) but live you could only hear Kevin because he had the mic and its low enough that Avi is somewhat inaudible without one. It also sounds much fuller in the recording, though that could easily just be production. I could be wrong tho. Still very impressive either way.
@Nessainthebuilding9 жыл бұрын
Wow! The sound on this is amazing. Usually for tv performances the balance on the sound is off cause the sound guys have no idea what they're doing but dang! Whoever did the sound on this is fantastic.
@Nessainthebuilding9 жыл бұрын
I've come to realize that one of the reasons it works here is that they're using one mic instead of five. Most of the time no one can balance the mics.

Is it throat bass?
@rzezzy110 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised I don't see more people asking about that. It's called throat bass, an advanced beatboxing technique done by vibrating the false vocal folds (at the very top of the larynx) and if done right, will produce an extra note an octave below a note sung simultaneously with the true vocal chords. If you want to learn how to do it you can just youtube search "throat bass" and find some good tutorials, but be prepared because it will hurt a lot at first, and if you do it wrong you can permanently damage your voice. It's really a lot of fun to use it to make dubstep with your mouth ^w^
