This is why I think this game favors the Vols. Their strength is running and defense. Combine the cold with OSU's depleted O-line, it sets up well for TN to win by the ground game and just not giving up too many points.

Michigan ran for 170 yds, lol. That is not a winning recipe, clown. Michigan scored 10 pts off short fields, a turnover by OSU gave MI the ball on the 4 yd line. They got their 13th point by making a very long FG. OSU even stopped Michigan on 4 cracks from inside the 5 yard line. Look at the statistics of the OSU defense. You don't beat them by being one dimensional, and you don't run all over them. They have the top defense in college football. You beat them by (1) winning the turnover battle and (2) making TDs instead of FGs, and (3) not missing a FG if you have to kick one (because OSU's FG kicker is average to bad, you might win a close game that comes down to FGs). Unless you are in the OSU offensive backfield the entire game (which is a real possibility with the injuries at left tackle, guard and center), then Tennessee needs a lot of things to go their way in order to score more than 20 pts against this defense.

For me, an Ohio State fan, this game is about their OC and DC. If Chip Kelly and Jim Knowles are at their best, then the Ohio State players are going to win the game. If Kelly replicates his Michigan effort and Knowles his Oregon stuff, then Ohio State loses. Kelly should be going for balance between pass and run with play action passes being the key. Knowles should dial up pressure early and often.

I think the Michigan vs OSU game isn't a good comparison. That game is "Different", Michigan can be "Rebuilding" and played them super tough just because its the buckeyes. That said, I think this game's a toss-up: I could see either team winning, but I don't see a rout either way. I do, however, see the outside pressure getting to Day and the Buckeyes enough to make the difference in the game, leading to a Tennessee win by 4.

I don’t trust the comparisons of the defenses. Tennessee earned their ranking while playing SEC competition and OSU got theirs playing Big Ten competition. We saw what happened when UT played a higher-ranked Big Ten defense last year against Iowa and that was with a seriously watered down playbook for Nico’s first start. 35-0 against the Big Ten’s runner-up.

Iowa wasn’t the second best team so the runner up is misleading as they were in a weak division, they got shutout against Penn State 31-0 then 26-0 against Michigan aswell. Tennessee has only played two capable offenses in Georgia and Alabama where they gave up 31, and i’ll admit they played well against Bama. OSU played the tougher schedule

But the point of my comment was on the defense rankings when those rankings come from the level of talent of the opposing squads. Everyone has agreed that OSU had a slightly tougher schedule, so I don’t understand your point. I’m speaking about how talk is on picking a defense based on which one is ranked higher and saying it’s misleading to use that as the guide.

I agree, Oregon just has no weakness. Only bad Defensive showing for ducks all year was championship game and ducks had 10 defensive players on 2 deep out with really bad flu. That won't happen again.

No wind in Columbus Saturday night, weather channel says light and variable. This helps Will Howard, who has difficulty with the wind. This gives Ohio State a chance, but Tennessee has a very strong pass rush and the Buckeyes OLine is banged up. Tennessee can also run the ball well. I wish it was going to be windy. If Ohio State throws the ball quick 3 step drops. I’ll take 7.5 points but Bucks will probably win by getting every close call. Ohio State has the better material, and they should be more desperate to win to save their coaches job. Tennessee is probably “just happy be in the playoffs “. Hope I’m wrong though. Go Vols!!!😊

Honestly, if Tennessee jumps out to an early lead, I could see them running away with the game. OSU being devastated in the Game and not making the conference championship works in Tennessee favor if they can get out to an early lead.

If I’m the playoff committee which was heavily represented by big 10 officials and I wanted insure the outcome of this game for the buckeyes; I would have picked the Magallanes crew for this game. 100% the fix is in.

Here is what I think needs to change next year. I haven’t read this anywhere but I’m sure it’s already been discussed. No one would agree to give up conference champ bye. What should happen is there can be an initial seeding to determine 1st round games. But then there should a second seeding after 1st round games using final rankings and then the bracket is set going forward. There’s no way Oregon’s reward should be playing winner of Tennessee/Ahia State. They should play Arizona State or Clempson if they would pull the upset.

That is Awesome! Ty I have become such a fan of Alabama over this last season… a lot of it has to do with Kangaroo Black… he got me to slow down enough to really appreciate Alabama and the Fans… World of Respect to Georgia as well for a Quality Program that knows how to Win. Tennessee’s defense has faced three QB’s ALL YEAR that started and finished the game. The actual starter for the year. Three. Alabama, Milroe played awful, TN won. Georgia, Beck absolutely torched them for what felt like 500 years, they lost. And Vandy, TN won. Let's see if Ryan's Days timid and conservative sometimes game play comes to the surface. If so I see problems for OSU for the whole game. OSU better throw the ball and loosen Tenn up then mix it up The Tenn D line will be ready to get up field.. If not OSU will be on the couch with bean soup in a Bowl instead of competing in a Bowl.
