Weird stuff happened that night, 15 seconds on the clock to break the 15 year loss streak on the 15th day of October and it was USC transfers that made the plays at the end to win the game (one wearing the number 15) USC also being the school who grabbed Kiffin in the middle of the night starting the whole mess. On a side note Dooley lost another game in Knoxville in his first year as a Bama assistant, Dooley being the coach that killed us after the Kiffin wound. Oh yeah and all the transfers at OU and Bama getting beat but we have an OU player as head coach... Its like the curse lifted and all the stored up blessings pouring out like a dam breaking. I mean we even had Kiffin saying go Vols and making memes about Saban, Peyton there breaking the attending curse streak, am I missing anything?

It never seems to get mentioned but preceding Bama's streak, back in the 90s, the Vols had a streak of 8 years. I remember one of those later years tailgating when some Bama fans walked by. Some Vol fans began singing The tune was Sweet Home Alabama but the words were "We own Alabama." The young ones likely are unaware that Tennessee has beaten Bama more times than any other team and Bear Bryant never beat Robert Neyland. Also, Neyland went an entire year unbeaten, untied, unscored upon. He also went 17 straight games without giving up a single point. Saban and the Bear are way up there but after he passed, the Bear said Neyland taught them every thing they know. Given all of that, when ESPN (I think it was them) had a poll asking for the 10 greatest coaches. Neyland didn't make the cut. Maybe I'm just too old.
@benfennell4762 жыл бұрын
The reason is because ESPN hates Tennessee and always will. Every ESPN broadcast of a UT game (and even CBS’ coverage of our win) was 90% gawking at Alabama’s QB, offense, defense, etc. even after 17 penalties. It really gets old.

I was at a wedding in Soddy Daisy outside of Chattanooga the day of the game. I'm an alumni of UT, everyone except for 3 people of the 75ish people there were Volunteer fans. The groom's father and grandfather were at the 2006 game, the last time we beat them. Let me tell you, the energy I felt there was incredible. We paused the wedding after the father daughter dance to watch the last 90seconds of the game. Groups of people huddled around cell phones, tablets, and even one laptop. About 20 of us crammed into the groom's suite which had an actual television. The kick happened, we all cheered continuously until the DJ dropped Rocky Top, we reveled some more, then they cut the cake. As a fan of any sport I've never felt this amount of jubilee, that was 3 days ago at the time of this post and my voice is still hoarse from screaming. Go Vols, it feels like '98 to me. One thing I'll say after last night, Bryce Young is a super hero. That kid took some shots (that should've drew a flag or 2) and dude made magic happen. #1 dropped a dime in his hands that would have sealed it for Bama at the end. Let's not talk about the phantom PI call prior to that. Play calling looked pretty good to me

Right off the start of the game they didnt review any of the holding calls on kick return. I’m still in disbelief…. And it should have been a 3 -4 more point win. That fumble/ missed handoff was a freak that gave them 7 points. Tennessee made some key mistakes and still pulled it out. That speaks to a different team than we’ve been cheering for stretching over a decade. Love it. You called it Josh! I didn’t have the confidence to say we win….I thought we would be in the game at the end but never expected to look like the better team overall. Never thought that before the game. I’m so happy!!! I do wish I could understand defensive schemes better because I did wonder why adjustments weren’t made on Hyatt Hes a burner but has just started to make a difference this year as far as a leader. First of the year it was quick outs 7 yard gain and step out of bounds. But I’m happy for the young man. Finally using his speed

It was great to see Tennessee finally get over the hump. It is easy to assume that with Tennessee winning with this (not so great) roster in year 2 given the attrition and controversies Heupel has had to work through; the future will be very bright for the Volunteers. Parity in the SEC is good for college football as a whole and I’m glad to see it!

Alabama graduate and season ticket holder here. Josh, you're always unadulteratedly on point with your reactions, and I agree with most what you have to say usually and in this one as well. First, congratulations to UT and their supporters who've been waiting a while on this moment, they are obviously as the y should be... Enjoying it. There were some absolute reprobate garbage Tennessee fans after the game saying things to some UA fans that should never be uttered or spoken, and I lay that partially on alcohol, and every fan base has some of those, it was just in full display in several instances last night, and that's unfortunate - but I know there's years of frustration and though this was one football game, I saw that spew over. Prayers for those few people that they may learn how to act if they're to be a winning program. Great job by the UT staff, well called game by them in all phases. I feel they out coached UA and UAs players were tight and even timid/nervous at times, discipline and penalties were issues and though I feel it was not a perfectly called game, great teams overcome that. This Alabama team is NOT great - by any stretch and if they are to become so this will be the caviat by which that will come. So far it's a team of great talent who's only reached good...and I feel they have a limitless upside, they must get out of their own way and start loosening up and having fun again to succeed. We need to examine at Corner Star and Safety our strategy and learn from this. Tennessee is recruiting better they are definitely an up and coming program and we will REALLY see what they have a couple weeks in Athens. I'd LOVE to handle our business, them handle theirs and do this ALL AGAIN in Atlanta... Indeed I am PRAYING for that!! But we will see. Great job examining the game/experience, and again congrats to UT. See y'all down the road...

Man, what a game!!! Concerning Bama's defense - I've looked at highlights since, and I've paid attention to the O-line of Tennessee. And while I'm not saying they played squeaky clean, I couldn't find a single holding penalty. Much credit to the O-line for giving Hooker the time and space he needs to do his thing! Will Anderson? I think playing Georgia in Georgia will be tough the only way they’re going to win VS GA is holding them to 30 points or less. I think TN offense is so good they’ll score 35 points against every team for the rest of the year regardless of who they play. For some reason once they get a 1st down in a drive they automatically make it to field goal range or a TD they play so fast the defense never gets a chance to change formations, get the correct match ups it’s actually amazing that hooker can run that offense that fast
