Agree one game does define the “culture” of the team. Fans have come to see an Alabama football team for the past 17 years that developed into an organization where virtually everything they do is choreographed on and off the field which has beed defined as the “Alabama Standard.” The standard was established by Nick Saban and it has been upheld win or lose for most all of the 17 years. Once NIL and a transfer portal were established in such a way that a player could literally black mail the organization for money or playing time, that was the moment Saban realized he no longer had the ability to control the culture he established or maintain the standard that he demanded. So Kalen DeBoer comes in with different philosophies, and reducing what became recognized as the misery of the Saban system (in which he forced players to train under the most difficult conditions) so the players no longer feel the “threat” of the pressure that comes with “the process.” Consequently fans sense that a culture shift has occurred (practicing in the morning when it’s cooler rather than when it’s hot). You can see players doing silly dances after TDs, hair styles that appear looser, and the coach wearing a tee shirt that does not present the coach in a classy look. Those are all indicators of a shift in coaching philosophy/culture and it contradicts the “Alabama Standard”. All fans know is that the system worked under Saban. Now it appears to have holes in it. If we see behavior problems with players as Saban initially did, we will know the answer.

And just think, the same people that are printing this and saying this are the same people that said Alabama would win by 30 points. Then the media had to find something else to follow. I’m a die hard Alabama fan for 43 years and Vandy outplayed Alabama on that field Saturday in every aspect of that game. Vandy came to play and did just that and I give the coach and every player credit for that. But I’ll never make excuses, excuses displace blame instead of owning it.

@@BB-ce5ev That is what Saban did, build talent and he retained them because they were grateful. Now talent (raw talent) is mostly motivated by the NIL and transfer portal. I consider myself a somewhat rational Alabama fan and I don’t get the outrage about Malachi Moore. I want a guy on my defense to be angry about losing to Vandy. I am more concerned about guys who are not angry. That is a culture problem you can’t fix. Do you want to see him throw his mouthpiece, kick the ball, or refuse to come off the field? Obviously not. But none of that happens if you win the game. I have absolutely no concerns about Malachi Moore. Also, we all knew the defense was going to be a potential problem this season. It is a very young group overall that isn’t exceptionally deep. The defense has not really been great for several years now. Expecting something different in DeBoer’s first season is not rational. If you take a step back, Alabama is just like most of the teams in the upper tier of the sport. Their offense is good enough to out score anyone on any given day (Georgia). Their defense is vulnerable enough that it could give up 40+ to anyone on any given day (Vandy). The era of undefeated or seemingly invincible teams is over. The era of two and maybe even three loss national champions is here. We all need to adjust to that reality.

There seems to be things in each game that are leading to this narrative. The Moore thing is a huge example, but yes, we are all human. There was also the fight before half time that lead to a penalty in the GA game and Williams having "Kill Everyone" written on his face. Those things make me nervous that the integrity of the program isn't a priority. Which most people will not care about as long as we are winning.

Evaluate after the season. If Bama doesn’t make the 12 team playoffs this year with one of the Best QBs in the Country, and with him being an Offensive Guru, then it’s a Bust of a Season. And recruiting will be harder. Obviously he doesn’t have the Discipline that Saban had and doesn’t go after Defensive Players as hard as he does Offensive Players. Despite a tough schedule and what he had returning, 10-2 should be the Worse this team should go. Otherwise it isn’t a good season

Yes, the defense needs to tighten up and quit running that dumb "swarm" defense, but I think we're on the right track. We gotta give the new coach a little more grace than 1 loss. There is zero consistency on either side of the ball. Our defense is not working together. Is it the coaching, or the players? Milroe is overrated. A forward pass that far over the line of scrimmage, please? His eyes and body language are guides to the defense on running plays. His eyes betray him on passes, he goes into ball hog mode, he can’t feel the pressure in the pocket (when he can stay there), and for every air strike he throws he under or overthrows three. His clock management during the Georgia game was shameful. It’s the talent around him that makes him shine.

From the look it seems to be maybe the effort not there because he is lacking in his preparation of games. Also pretty sure maybe the players are questioning themselves maybe someone of the things (effort and preparing) now is showing that it is necessary and showing the player that also. @@bamaalum0920 nothing you say to anyone, much less us UGA fans who have seen their program get b2b natties, will take away the fact that one of the greatest upsets in cfb history happened last week with Alabama losing to Vandy. You guys lost to Vanderbilt. #1 rated Bama team with the most explosive QB in the nation lost to Vanderbilt. Please let that sink in. One of the worst losses in the history of your school. Don't let Josh Pate try to sweep it under the rug with his bs. And dont try punching down on UGA fans to try to distract yourself from the fact that yall became tbe biggest laughing stock in CFB right now. Once again, your season highlight will be "we didnt get a natty, but well at least we beat georgia" when all else is said and done and nothing more. Yall are turning into auburn.

@@willscarborough9089 we have driving and culture issues but we still never let vanderbilt put up 40 points on us when we were the #1 ranked school. At least our players aint throwing temper tantrums on the fields like babies 😂 Bama has OBVIOUS culture issues Pate doesn't want to mention. And they were manifest during the latter half of Saban's tenure. Now that he's gone, its even worse...

@@yearofthedawgs8581 maybe? We will see. I agree letting Vandy throw up 40 on us is a bad look. I think any team that has mostly 4 and 5 star kids getting paid tons of money who all think they should be playing will have issues moving forward. It’s going to be hard to find a team full of kids who are talented enough to play at Bama and GA AND are more concerned with ball than anything else.
