Yeah I've been doing a little research and agree with you, although I can't add miracle mud to this system (no refugium or space to do so!). Might look into adding some trace elements along with treating his food with supplements.

Biocubes come in different sizes I believe. The nano cube also comes in a 28g, which would be a good option. The larger the water volume, the more stable the system. Not sure what you mean about the light. Maybe you have PC or metal halide and probably tired of replacing them. Go LED when you can...
