There are hard liquor vending machines too. My Japanese teacher told us that she would go down to the vending machine to get her dad a beer when asked. Kids in Japan just don't normally do under-aged drinking, "Its just something we don't do," she told us.

I was in Tokyo in 2015. Suffering from jet lag on my first night, I went for an evening walk by myself around Kanda. After a while, I became really thirsty - I saw a drinks vending machine, picked something I thought was apple juice, and downed it. It was cider - the thought that the machines could have alcoholic drinks in them did not compute with my British brain.
@thany323 күн бұрын
You sure it wasn't "mitsuya cider"? It's nonalcoholic and probably closest to 7-up flavour. Quite nice actually. Downing a can of apple cider, for real, that's mental, you must've slept like a stone 😀

Thanks for more laughs. Used to do the same thing in Okinawa on skateboards and drink all the unique coffees and sodas. The bug vending machine reminds me of a live-bait vending machine on the causeway between Mobile and Spanish Fort, Alabama. We refer to it as The Vending Machine that Lurks Within.

For winter months. Soups in cans are nice. Im someone who is used to warmer climates, so my first time in a snowy winter japan was an experience. My first vending machine experience was Hot corn soup from a can. Really helped xD. There are also Gourmet cakes in a can and like better quality items in vending machines all throughout Shinjuku, Ginza and shibuya.
