There is really no such thing as a homogeneous society. A racially homogeneous society still differentiates but on the grounds of class, religion, wealth, gender, regional accent, urban/rural background, personality, criminality, health & age rather than race.

29:52 and 32:33 truly exemplifies how different reality is when actually experienced. The differences might seem subtle but they get very noticeable if you have a trained eye.

There was an excellent point made about people following rules to keep the cohesiveness of the society. In the US we are seeing how some political factions are disregarding the rulings of SCOTUS, saying some people are above the law, and dismissing true expertise. It's really dangerous.

It's not really so different than America, it's just a matter of where on a sliding scale you are. Americans may speak up, speak out, draw attention to themselves, but there is still a line, and when it slides further down the scale into the zone of obnoxious, entitled, demanding, we don't like it and give a negative reaction, stare, eye roll, etc.

It also depends on local culture and generation in the U.S. Some Americans struggle to relate to the predominant culture. Humility WAS part of the culture for many Americans. It is part of the reason for culture wars. You hear a lot about how there is no respect anymore, and that it is all about me over we.

Well, my position(though speaking as an outsider) is that the whole 'no respect' thing has been a thing in the countercultures since way back, hippies, maybe even the flappers, of course I am merely analysing writings, not the on the ground, but to me, it may be that there simply is a false nostalgia happening.

Was there ever a native american contestant?
@Apriluser7 ай бұрын
Yes. There used to be Miss Indian America pageants. I think the competition has been discontinued. But my cousin, Michelle Portwood, was the winner in the 1960s. Very proud of her.

I thought it was interesting when rham Emmanuel decided to move his family to Japan. I thought then that a social engineering program would likely follow. Media and education can change a culture to favor just about anything the powerful want. We need to remove all dual citizens from government, media, education, etc.

He wasn’t exactly popular in Chicago by the end, so being made Ambassador to Tokyo was a good escape for him.

Our western obsession with individuality is a blight IMO. we could learn from east Asian humility.
