In 1978 I was 18. I saw O.J. and his young son buying gas for their humble motor boat at the Lake Arrowhead marina in So Cal. I didn't speak to him as I was too shy. I watched football with my father and I sure knew who O.J. was. I watched him play for USC. Like millions of others, I just hate how he made such a mess of his life...:)

Such a similar career and fame trajectory between OJ in the 70s/80s and The Rock more recently. I'm not saying that to make any rather dark predictions! But it's just that if you took away the way things ended in 1994, OJ could really be likened in his time to what The Rock is now. (Different sports, I know, although Rock played football early on too.) I wasn't around during OJ's football career but I remember the night of the murders/police chase quite well, and am thinking it must have been so ridiculously shocking for people who vividly remembered the OJ in this interview. Just stunning.

Yes, that's why he was likable and many people found it hard to believe his guilt. He had been dating Nicole 2½ years when this aired. In fact, she appears in the Detour to Terror film he mentioned.
