What things would you suggest to look for or to consider for the next guy. Anything you regret & wish you had done or known before when you built yours? I’m getting ready and planning for a 30x30 workshop behind my house. 😊

@@HeyKnight I would say to look for something thay says it water tight/no gaps. My doors have a large gap at the top when they are closed. Not sure if that's just a roll up door thing or not. A window would be nice for a little daylight. However if you get lights not a huge deal. Then go as big as you can!!

Nice building. I love our metal building. By far one of the best upgrades we made was adding the roll up garage door openers. Once you can get your electric finished it’s a super cheap but great upgrade.

23 grand for a garage slab just seems insane. Any more than 10 grand and im doing that shit myself. These contractors are just pulling numbers out their ass and seeing who pays.

Thanks for the info. For perspective, I built a similar tube frame steel building 20'x20' in 2014 and the concrete (overbuilt to park a heavy vehicle on) 24" footer with 4x 3/4" rebar around perimeter and 12" cross beams inside 5" thick floor with 5/8" rebar 6" on center with a 10'x10' concrete approach and the entire cost was less than $3,000 and the metal building was $2,500 including roll up, walk door and two windows. Looks like I should have taken out a loan and built the bigger building I was planning on back then instead of waiting.

I'm telling ya the prices are insane. My concrete guy when he was bidding the job told me straight it's going to be expensive. I quoted a building in 2019 40x60 and it was the same price as my 24x30.... just the way it is unfortunately.

Thanks for sharing man! I hope things are going well for you. Would love to see a shop update video. Have you got electricity and a lift yet, lessons learned? I'm looking into building a shop 30 miles west of KCMO. I can't believe they made you pour 18" footers for a 2 car garage and that it cost $23k. That's gotta be a bs county or city code, no way it's like that in the boonies of MO. Are you in Jackson CO?

Thank you so much for watching. Not much of a update. Been pretty busy with other things. I can definitely make a video on the things I'm not too happy about with the shop. Yep county code bs, I am in clay. Would have never thought being out of city limits on acres and having yo have so many rules. Really put a damper on being able to finish the shop out to what I want because of the final price. But I'm happy to have something to put my vehicles in.

I didn't catch the name of the garage company. If this was Eagle Carports, keep reading! The following comments are copy-paste from another video review of someone's Eagle Carports install that I posted. I think it's important for people to know what happens when you work with Eagle Carports. Stellar sales experience set us up with confidence... but buyer beware!!! We're currently in the in-between: our garage was erected, a shoddy job - many issues match this person's (in a different video I found) - but we also have other issues. I asked them what options we have. They said they'd send out the original crew to fix the problems. The photos and videos I sent to Eagle Carports were taken AFTER I had the original crew "fix" them, before they left the first time (in other words: don't send the same crew). So, Eagle Carports said they'll send a different crew. First date they were slated to come, I received a text saying they would be delayed til the next week. Then, it was pushed to Friday. Friday morning, they informed me they were running late. No one came Friday. HELLO SATURDAY MORNING AT 6:45AM (the ONE morning I can sleep in): Phone call, "I'm at your front gate." Um, what?! NO! There was no call yesterday preparing us for this, and it's Saturday morning at 6:45am! WTH?! To inform y'all of our issues: Again, same as this video, at least what I watched of it (admittedly didn't watch it all - I was rudely awakened by their fix-it guy so I'm up now and going to post my experience to save others from this experience). Other issues: our price point meant free matching hardware - we got silver (our garage is off-white/bone colored). All the edges (bottom and sides) had exposed insulation sticking out... really good wicking material to grow mold after 1 good rain. The crew didn't erect it per instructions: parts labeled for "back" were installed on the front, the garage doors didn't line up with the prefab brackets, so the crew made their own holes. Same dented-in overtightened screws. Really concerned about the roof construction after watching someone else's review showing it leaking- our interior is covered by the insulation, so we won't know how much it leaks until it's saturated (which will be too late: welcome, mold!) Of interest/note: our concrete slab was perfect BEFORE. Since the erection, there are cracks throughout the slab traversing end-to-end. We gave them the date of slab completion... We had asked about OPTIONS. They offered to fix it. Stung after the first crew (who also demanded us to feed them! Yes, we offered breakfast tacos as we did for our concrete contractors, but they came to our door asking for lunch, and THEN again DINNER! Thank goodness we had a frozen pizza) we hesitantly agreed. Now, this morning's rude awakening. Frankly, my husband would've been happier to accept $ off the bill, except that whatever we would do will void the warranty. Yeah, I'm starting to think that they only post the best reviews, and that they remove anything negative. Now I'm curious how many GOOD reviews are recent? Perhaps they're all pre-COVID? 🤔

I live in Missouri so my permit required me to have a footer that when down to frost line. The footer was 18in wide and 3 feet deep all the way around the outside of the slab. I also got engineered plans with my building that gave me a minimum for concrete. Im not sure what your state/county requires or even what the building you are building requires.
