No crackling while I watched your Dad sounds like my father-in-law, he didn’t like to spend money on things he thought we’re not needed. But offered through social services at no cost he was all in. Take care of your Dad.

Hi Ian, did you know that you have an "original recording" of your sound actually on the Rode Mic itself in a WAV file that is stored in it, it will not have any of the crackling sound that you are getting in the main receiver as its recorded directly onto the device. You can download the file through the software supplied with your GO and place it on the timeline and match it up really easily. A good tip is to "clap your hands" when you start filming. hope this is helpful Andrew

Hi Ian, you've reminded me of giving my two daughters their first driving lesson in a Land Rover County 110, they had tons of room to practice in as we were in the desert just up the road from the Giza pyramids. No power steering on that one yet the short wheelbases, had it???? It might be worth building a roof for some of the woodchip out of secondhand sheeting etc. Just to give you some dry stuff for bedding.

I'm glad to learn that your father is on the mend. Soon, he will be back home.😁 I know you spent a lot of money on your GoPro10, but honestly Ian, it isn't worth all that money. Hindsight is a wonderful thing because, in my opinion, you should have saved your money. No matter what make of microphone you use with your camera, from time to time you will get that crackling noise. Even if you push and pull on the jack plug as if to clean the contacts. I've tested seven different makes of external microphones on eleven different makes of camera including the new GoPro11. I've tested six cameras all with their own external microphone used for or should I say, designed for extream sport use. All suffered with some sort of crackling noise!😮 In a nut shell, crackling is part and parcel of videoing unless you spend thousands of pounds on professional equipment. Even then, that dosen't guarantee you will not get crackling sounds. I have every model of GoPro camera since the GoPro4 Silver came out. I use them to record my power boat racing weekends and when I go gliding putting them all through the ringer. I have a camera secured to the front of my boat and one at the rear. Watching the boat going so fast from a reverse perspective is brilliant but can be sickening at the same time. Just ask my wife when she watches my video on our 60" TV screen. It's a bit like watching a roller coaster with all the ups and downs. It can have the same sickening effect on her. I also use another camera strategically placed on top of my Range Rover, recording a wide angle or any other setting, one which is different from what I usually use. When I fly in my glider, I use one camera fixed inside the cockpit facing forward. One is facing backwards and one placed outside on top of the nose cone facing forward. All three cameras are set with volume recording, and the one outside i think sounds great, despite the rush of air. My cameras are always set up to record sound. I sometimes use a camera set to time-lapse on top of the nose cone of my glider or on top of my Land Rover but the sound is off for that setting. Now that I've explained what I do with my cameras and the extreme vicarious behaviour they all go through. I have found over the years that the most reliable, the best video and sound quality is that of the GoPro8. To my knowledge, I have never witnessed any crackling or any noise distortion with this particular model. Perhaps I have been very lucky. I have tried many different makes, too, and some are really good, especially when i paid less than £50 for them. No matter the situation, the GoPro8, in my opinion, beat every other model, with or without an external microphone, hands down. I have recently purchased 8 more GoPro8s, which I have placed in a safe, dark, dry, moisture free place, just in case the next GoPro model is not so good. I got a really good no, I got a fantastic deal on them, it was almost criminal. The price I paid for 8x new boxed GoPro8 cameras was a third of the price for the GoPro10. Admittedly, the photographic shop selling on eBay made a big, no, they made a huge mistake. I should have paid more than double what I paid but I have a clear conscience as it was not my mistake to rectify. I asked for a price on 8 cameras and they sent me the link to pay direct. Dome may say I should have told them they made a mistake. Some may say good on you, but not being a church going person I have no guilt. I am Christian and believe in God but is it my mistake? Is it up to me, my responsibility to put right another person's wrong? When a new version comes out, I'll tend to buy just one, then put it through its paces before buying more of that model just like i did recently with the GoPro11. But the GoPro8 is a hard model to beat! What you and the majority of KZbin channel makers forget is that the equipment we use is designed for "DIY home use. It's not designed for professionals but amateurs use only! Some youtubers expect too much sometimes believing that they are professionals but they are wrong. This is not my opinion but that of an article written about KZbin by one of their members of staff some years ago which i read when I was in New York in 2003. Just to give you a bit of perspective. I borrowed a Cannon video recorder from a dear friend of mine to video another one of my friend's 70th birthday. It has its own built-in microphone as well as an external one designed by Cannon for that particular model camera. When i returned the equipment i asked how much would i need fork out if i wanted that particular model of camera with the mic. The quality of sound and vision was mint. He said, the camera cost him £5,800 and the external microphone an additional £1,380. Plus, all the extras in the bag that came part of the package, he spent a whopping £9,245 that day, which to him, is peanuts, considering he owns his own photographic business. He told me, for the first 3 years it worked perfectly, but then crackling sounds started to appear as well as the camera would suddenly shut off. After he sent it off to be serviced with a note about the shutting down and crackling sound, it was returned fully serviced with a note. The note said that the reason the camera shyt diwn was because of a fault on the motherboard. As for the crackling, this is caused because of bad connections between the jack from the microphone lead and the female jack point on the camera being contaminated with dust and / or dirt. They also explained that over time, the connections become corroded, oxidised. Leaving a jack permanently connected can also cause issues. The solution was to make sure that both the male and female jack ports were clean and free from dirt or dust at all times. Using his breath to blow out the female part of the connector didn't help matters neither. They suggested he use a specialist dry air to clean the female jack port and a lint free cloth to clean the male jack. This is the same compressed air used to blow out dirt and dust in the electrical computer industry. With him continually blowing into the female opening worked at first, it's a natural thing i think we all do, but after a while, his breath being damp, caused the dust particals floating around in the air to become stuck to all parts that he had blown on. They recommended he use photographical air canisters to blow out inaccessible parts or a mechanical hand operated puffer blower and never use his own breath.

Sound is much better but for me I watch the videos using headphones and the sound seems to only come out of the left side which is odd as other channels videos are both sides. Potential some setting needs a tweak but far better without the crackles. I'm glad your Dad is on the mend as I know how unsettling having a loved one in hospital can be as my Grandad is currently in Tekwesbury and the outlook isn't great sadly 😟

Hi Farmer P 😊 Been wondering why no Red calves are produced by your Dexters. Checked it out on Google. Quite an exercise to figure it out but I got the gist of it. Very interesting though. To get a red calf Mum and Dad need to be red. You also might get a red calf if Mum is red and Dad is Black but has high count of red chromosomes in his DNA. So I figured out your Red Dexters must have come from the beautiful Black bull you had 3 years ago. Can't see you getting a red bull (I know you prefer Black). Would love to see a red calf one day 🥰. You will make a farmer out of me yet. Only trouble is I will be in my mid 80s by then 🧑🦼😅 Amazing cloud formation in this video. Looks like unravelled rolls of cotton wool. Quite stunning actually. Many thanks for another great video. Sound fine.👌👍. Take care and hug for Biskit 🐶🤗♥️
