My great grandfather wore British sterling. Anytime I smell it I think of great memories. As the on grandson in the family I was his pride and joy. I have recently asked my wife for a bottle for Christmas. If for anything else it will be a great bottle to pick up and smell.

I enjoy wearing Stetson from time to time. It smells like an old-fashioned soap after it dries down, and sometimes gets a little bit lotion-like in its smell, and the fragrance develops interestingly throughout the day. It lasts surprisingly long for a cologne concentration. I don’t like it all that much in the top notes, although the top notes are pretty nice when using the aftershave balm. I think the key to Stetson is application: You must put it on right after a thorough shower, and avoid applying too much on any one spot (that is, spread it out well). It could also be one of those fragrances that only works well on certain people’s skin, but not others.

Out of 214 fragrences I just tried Clubman for the first time. I always thought it would be a cheap grampa smell so I never Tried it. I was never more happy to be proven wrong! It smelled exquisite. With top notes of orange, heart notes of florals and a base note of oak moss, Clubman has been around so long for a reason!

I just turned 19 years old and I've been using clubman for about a year now and I love this stuff it honestly does good work on my skin. I used others like Aqua Velva but I'd recommend Clubman it does good work and also for me it smells like a barbershop like if you had just come out of one, and me personally I love that smell.

I'm 34 and wear Clubman all the time. It's probably one of my all time favorite scents. And my (34 year old) wife loves it...a lot. Out of everything I wear she likes the Clubman and Rose of Bulgaria AS the best. I definitely don't get an old man vibe from the Clubman, but I'll concede that one could definitely be too young to wear it. I don't think a young man in his teens or 20s could pull it off. BTW you should make some new videos!

english leather was my first cologne that I started wearing at about 12, I thought it was alright but a lot of people didn't like it on me so I've moved on to stetson at around 14, I've worn stetson and enjoyed it, but it can be strong at first. Since I was in my 20's I've really enjoyed Stetson Black, that is my favorite one. I've not tried British Sterling or Clubman but I'm always willing to try out new things if I can find them.

The Stetson after shave gives a great face feel it dries down to a less lavender like smell than the cologne. The Clubman is classic old school. Ed Pinaud was one of the great French perfumers and an early marketer of mens after shave products. It settles down to a nice powdery scent. I think your tastes run to a more citrusy, spice smell and not floral or powder scents. Scents are subjective I'm glad you mention that. I like a nice powder scent especially in the summer.

I love the smell of English Leather and British Sterling. Another one I sniffed recently was Canoe and I just about growled when I smelled it in the store. A new one the house of Dana is supposed to come out with is Valor which is inspired by military men. I seriously wanna know what that smells like.

The funny thing is, although it doesn't work for you, British Sterling works well for me! It's the only aftershave I have gotten a compliment on. It tends to last a long time on me, which is a rarity. But it all comes down to body chemistry which is great because it gives everyone a diverse range of scents. I enjoy using clubman but the smell tends to disappear quickly. I would like to make a request on my second favorite aftershave, definitely one on the cheaper end and it is also made by Pinaud. Give the timeless classic, Tres Flores or Three Flowers a shot! It has been around since the 1920s and I find that it works well for me. I hope you like it the same. I also use the brilliantine in my hair on days where Murray's would be a little too much. as for palm aids, my favorite is Black & White. I hope you like using Three Flowers.

I actually wear all of these colognes regularly. I feel great in all of them, especially British Sterling, which I have been complimented on. If you use the cologne with the aftershave, they balance one another and work beautifully, at least on me. Could be my body chemistry. I think I am lucky in that a great many colognes perform well on me. Also, if you decant clubman into glass it smells fresher.

I own it. It's very weak with poor silage. I would try Number 6 by Caswell and massey(1752). Or Florida Water (1850) by Murray and Lanman. 1709 eau de cologne by Johan Farina. Is also a wonderful scent.

You should get into traditional WetShaving, I think you’ll like and really enjoy it. It’s shaving with a safety razor or straight razor, a shaving brush and some artisan or traditional shave soap. HA! Not to discount your teacher but she/he probably didn't like it. I have quite a few teacher friends and they all say the guys put way too much cologne/aftershave on. So, back off some when applying it but keep a bottle in your locker/backpack and refresh in the afternoon. Again, use it sparingly. It's a lesson we all have to learn and re-learn every once in a while. I'm 48 and still make the mistake every now and then.

I love barbershop scents like clubman. Im into wet shaving because I love the old barbershops. Back when I would go into the barbershop every Saturday morning to get a hair cut and shave, it was like being pampered, just like women do when they go into a salon. Id come out feeling fantastic ready for a fun day. The "I smell like an old man" comment reminded me of what my neighbor and I witnessed at his garage sale last year. The kids (10-14) were rummaging through stuff in a big toiletry box and found couple of bottles they spritzed each other with and their comments were: "Ha! now you smell like my dad!" Clubman Lilac Vegetal right out of the bottle not so good. If you are patient the payoff is there. I have heard that you pour out twice as much you are going to use into an open cup let it air out while you get your shave on. You can do that with cheap aftershave. My wife happens to love lilac so what do I have to lose.

I enjoy wearing Stetson from time to time. I find it smells like old-fashioned soap and lotion for hours, although the first few minutes can be a little unpleasant. I really like Clubman Pinaud after an evening shave--I find it gentlemanly, refreshing, and comforting, and it's a great to smell like it while falling asleep. I don't care much for English Leather (I eventually got rid of it), and British Sterling is one of my least favorite fragrances (I sold it at a yard sale).

I have a question: If I use one of these colognes (any one), what about the deodorant that I use under my arms? Won't the deodorant smell mix with the cologne smell and change everything? I guess you could stick to using a cologne brand that also has a complimentary deodorant, like Brut, Old Spice and Jovan Musk, but what if I don't want to use any one of those colognes?

Interesting question but I would guess that the scent in deodorants are not as strong as colognes. Plus, I doubt you walk around the office or school with your arms raised above your head. Meaning that people really are not smelling the deodorant more than the cologne. So I say wear whatever deodorant you want and whatever cologne you want.

I have used british sterling and I like it, if find it as a very classic aroma. Clubman special reserve is the one I like most from clubman pinaud. English leather is not bad but it smells more like leahter and musk.. I have never used Stetson. They are getting expensive because I live in Mexico.

As a fan of some very expensive colognes and Edt's, I quite like British Sterling which is obviously inexpensive. The nutmeg and amber dry down is very relaxing. Is it JPG's Le Male or one of the excellent Thierry Mugler fragrances? No, but It reminds me of a lesser version of Azzaro Pour Homme which is just terrific. Due to a discount store getting a load of Dana products in this week, I've even rediscovered English Leather which I haven't worn since the 1970's. The dry downs of the Dana products are much better than the initial top notes which are very strong. I paid $5 for a 2.5 oz gift set of British Sterling which included body lotion and aftershave balm, For $5 each, I might even try the two British Sterling H.I.M versions. As far as Clubman goes, I like the entire line! Original Clubman, VIBR, Special Reserve, Citrus Musk, Lime Sec, Musk, Vanilla, Lilac Vegetal - I bought them all! I never cared for Stetson, though.

Clubman, to me, smells like a barber shop, which I actually like. It also smells a little like Brut to me, but I prefer the Clubman. As for the other products, which are colognes, you get what you pay for. There are far subtler colognes, which are oil based, but they cost a lot. Yet, their fragrance lasts longer, and because they are not alcohol based, they do not assail the nostrils.

I liked English leather as a teenager. Got several sets of it at Christmas. Still used it occasionally later, but then I worked with a guy who seemed to bathe in the stuff and you could smell it all over the office (cubicle area). Quit using it. Prefer Old Spice.
