I recently picked up the ember in the ashes series after hearing about Heir and I'm loving it so far. I'm about done with book three and I bought book four and Heir last night... I enjoy Sabaa Tahir's writing a lot.

I've never been interested in Joe Abercrombie's books but you got me intrigued now I might check 'em out 👀 I genuinely thing the Ember Quartet is one of the best YA fantasy series out there. It's not perfect and some of the characters got on my nerve by the end, but honestly I'd still recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy. I think you'll really like it.

I just finished The Blade Itself a few days ago, I absolutely loved it! If you're in your bromantsy era, you should read the Foundryside series by Robert Jackson Bennett, it is SUCH a good series.

Definitely want to get into Joe, but not sure if it will happen this year. I also have Red Rising on my TBR but think I’m going to prioritize Mistborn first.

Ok I love that a bunch of booktubers I follow are also reading or rereading books that are a bit older (like 5-10 years old lol). I just reread An Ember in the Ashes because I never finished the series and I want to read the new one but I kind of felt like no one cared about that series anymore so I wouldn’t bring it up. And now you’re wanting to read Mary E Pearson’s og series and that’s on my tbr list of books I’ve had for a while that I need to read this year 😃

I put Red Rising on my tbr this year. All the youtubers I watch so far have enjoyed it. It would be my first sci-fi in awhile and I'm kinda nervous 😂
@oliviareadsalatte2 күн бұрын
it takes a little bit for it to start into what it truly is, so expect that the first 25% is sooooo different than the last part o fit. But also, the first book is so different from the rest of the series too hahahah. it's evolves so much, i hope you love it!

I'm currently reading the bone season series! I'm on the 3rd book, the song rising!

I’m on the John Gwynne train with you. I’m hoping to read all three this year. I think the page sag is pretty normal for really thick books. The only preventative measure I know of is to cut a strip of acid free foam core board (from Michael’s) the width of the pages and slip it under the bottom pages so it provides some support.

I finished Kingdom of Copper over a year ago and have been procrastinating reading Empire of Gold because I know it's going to ruin me (emotionally) and then put me in the worst reading slump ever 🤣🤣 She just DID something with that series and I don't want it to end! Also, you're making me low-key want to read The Blade Itself, too!

I'm hoping to read the John Gwynne series "The bloodsworn Trilogy" and his "Faithful and the Fallen", plus I have high hopes to make a dent in the Cosmire by re-reading Mistborn Eras 1 and 2 and maybe start Stormlight Archives (I'm very intimidated with that one-heard lots of good things about but heard it can be a slug to get thru). Like you I'm trying to read thru what I already own.

Im very careful with way over-hyped up books. I think it sets in our minds a ridiculously unfair expectation for the book and author and then when it doesnt live up to our expectations we are so let down to the point, now, not all of us, but many then start lashing out and then it becomes this whole thing. I mean its crazy, have you seen whats going on with Onyx Storm, people are hate reading ( which is a whole other thing), her fans are a bit brutal, its so nasty and i think we forget its a book meant to entertain and to escape. Its gotten bat shit crazy, so, careful with those hyped books. Happy Reading, hugs to your pooch Jake, hes soooo cute!!!
@oliviareadsalatte9 күн бұрын
honestly, i don't really get into anything near the hate reading side of things because it's not very fun to do or watch! i don't really understand getting that upset when expectations aren't met. happy reading! 🤎🐕🐈

If I was to start a book from Joe Abercrombie which one is a good one for a new reader of his books. Also which one is a good one of Brandon Sanderson's I should start with. Because these are two new authors I want to read to read this year
@oliviareadsalatte9 күн бұрын
if you like sci-fi, I would recommend Sanderson's Skyward series--it's YA and super fun. if you want more fantasy, then the mistborn trilogy for sure. for Abercrombie, I started with the blade itself and loved it!
@judycollins32159 күн бұрын
@oliviareadsalatte thanks very much. I really shouldn't start a new series but I just can't help myself. I just love great books 📚😻

Unpopular opinion: I don’t like the new “bromantasy” because it implies only guys can like them (IMO) and it draws a line in the sand between what guys can like vs what women can like. Maybe I’m projecting idk
