That narrow strip of forest must be getting thinned out a fair bit, and it's likely loaded with UXO (Unexploded Ordinance). Their lack of willingness to surrender tells us a fair bit about what the unfortunately-for-the-North-Koreans are being told about the AFU. The US would be using loudspeaker teams and leaflets to deliver surrender appeals and instructions. That confrontation was their only opportunity to get out of this alive. I'm highly, highly partisan in this war, but that doesn't mean that I'm without empathy.
@briseboy9 сағат бұрын
Ukrainian units TYPICALLY shout out "surrender and LIVE", Repeatedly. They DO adhere to their promise. Printing presses are no more effective than personally HEARD assurances. Or have you not been in analogous situations? Loudspeakers may not be practical for personal gear .

They've tried many many many times to get the information to the Russian and NK forces that they will take prisoners of war and treat them fairly, and feed them. The problem is that their homeland propaganda combined with the way they treat each other, most don't believe a word of the leaflets or think the "I want to live" surrender hotline is actually Russian Moskova(a trap)

Thank you RFU! And you are sooo correct when talking about the basements of "Soviet times" buildings in Eastern Europe. They are like bunkers. Same here in PL. Now 2024 is coming to a close and I thought that a quick recap of da ru f fest could be interesting. So what happened to ru in the last year? Economically: - 40% of their National budget is now geared towards (unproductive) Mil. expenses. Good luck to ru citizens with your roards, infrastructures and hospitals and schools and and and... - An unwinnable economic stagflation the 1970's NYC would have looked at as healthy, a rubble basically acting as monopoly money similar to that of the Weimar, not even traded on the ForEx markets anymore! Militarily: - Some 47km advance in 3 years in the Donbass. 3 years! 47km! Think again! 3 years for 47km. - Lost part of their OWN territory to the AFU in Kursk - The black Sea fleet is essentially a thing of the past. - Their stock of heavy metal gears is down to the 1970's digging into the 1960's. Internationally: - Lost their foothold in Syria - China told them to basically x off with their bric currency fantasy at the last brics summit. - Their importance in the world's oil markets is down to a fleet of shadow tankers which are ending at the bottom of the sea on a bi-monthly basis. - Their Arms Export sector is now ranking 3rd in the world. With the US and France taking the first 2 positions. "When you wanna buy cheap, buy Chinese. When you want to buy cheap junk, buy ru junk". Have I missed anything? Ohhh yeah, NATO is bigger now and PL has more Gen 5 fighter Aircrafts than ru. Support for the AFU and the Ukrainian people!

You haven’t focused on what’s happening with Ukraine. Ukraine’s outlook is dismal. They have an extreme shortage of manpower and are losing on ALL fronts. Zelenskyy’ report of AFU losses as 43,000 is an outright lie as well as his reported losses for RU at over 700,000. Ukraine cannot survive their attritional losses. Continuing an unwinnable war for Ukraine means that Zelenskyy has little regard for Ukrainian lives. What if Robert E. Lee listened to some of his officers to continue the war and make guerrilla warfare and not surrender at Appomattox. Would that have made a difference? This same scenario applies to Ukraine. Why waste further lives and have more destruction. Ukraine is mortally wounded. It’s time for Ukraine to realize this.

@@kipschwanenberg4934 Don't disagree, but it has clearly been far more costly than expected.
@Dr.-Ing._M7 сағат бұрын
@@kipschwanenberg4934 Nonsense. Strategically on a gobal scale, RU already lost. The question is whether the regional goal of extinguishing an independent AU is still reachable, and that largely depends on whether the west is willing to keep supplying and funding AU. As the west gets a bargain for reducing RU's military power by funding and supplying AU, its just a question of escalation management calibration. RU being EU's biggest foreign threat, at least EU countries will keep up the material and financial support for as long as needed. And if you learn anything from wars like Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq, ultimately the winner is the one who stubbornly refuses to give up, no matter the cost or the duration - should AU simply refuse to surrender (and RU's treatment of the people of the occupied territories has given AU every incentive to not give up while western support has given AU the means to not give up), RU has already lost this war, even if they achieve what the world thought they would achieve in the first few weeks - I mean taking out the central government, destroying the official military and occupying the whole country won neither the Iraq nor the Afghanistan war. But RU-exceptionalists are to blind to see that they are not exempt from the dynamics of nationalism and modern warfare. Nato was assuming RU would steamroll AU and was preparing to make it a second Afghanistan for them, hence the many man portable weapons in the early shipments. Almost no one expected RU to fail so spectacularly at their Blitz-Krieg... in modern colonialism, the hard part comes after the initial victory over the victims regular forces, and RU is nowhere near even that, they can't even eject AU's regular forces from RU. If AU and the west just keeps their nerve, RU is gona loose, the question is just how much of RU's war making potential and political capital the West can burn through prolonging the war in AU before RU finally realizes that discretion is the better part of valour. I guess at the moment RU's ruler's short and medium term interests of staying in power line up with the west's medium and long term goal of making sure RU does not threaten the west militarily through burning RU's might in an ungainful war line up, which is extremely sad for everyone involved. But always remember, the fighting could end today if RU just calls it troops back behind the borders agreed to by RU in 1991, I'm confident AU would most gladly reciprocate.
