This was such a good video. Ill be honest... i only clicked on it becos it had my favourite artist kevin parker on it, but the editing, oh my god. The effort you put in to have every second engaging throughout the video is so good!!! Please edit more and have even more fun with it like this vid!! I will definently watch this again like 15 or 20 times, not a joke whatsoever. And the commentary too, it just went hand in hand with the editing and made the 30mins feel like a casual 10minute video. You have earnt a true fan right here, cant wait for more videos. I still cant get over it tho, i dont even know anything about guitars or playing them and it was an engaging video as if i knew all about the topic. You have an aura and a magic to you sir. So engaging, cant wait for more guitar vids :)

I loved this. I was glad to see some more indi bands in there too. One band who is not really my favourite, but I thought was worth a mention is Little River Band. I really like Reminiscing, the jazzy chords forming a beautiful opening riff to the song. And there is Friday on My mind by the Easy Beats also, but I realise that it is impossible to squeeze everything into a top 25.
@dannyeddyguitar7 ай бұрын
Thanks Matt!! I'm gutted I didn't include Reminiscing. What an amazingly clever little intro! Can't remember why I left that out tbh. Friday on my Mind was short listed for a long time, but whilst I love the song, the chords, the lyrics, the chorus, and those great little runs throughout, I just don't think the main riff is really that notable. But yeah, it's just my dopey opinion in the end, lol!

Thanks so much for your comment, Matt. I definitely considered Tomorrow, but settled on Freak (yes, it's in there kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWXSmZiEos2qY68) Also laboured over Aussie Crawl's entire catalogue, but they're just not a very 'riffy' band. Great video. As always with these lists, there are so many equally great riffs left out, some great suggestions already in the comments which I won't repeat. But also Black & Blue by Chain, Zoot - Eleanor Rigby, Master's Apprentices - Turn Up Your Radio, Lobby Lloyde - Human Being, Blackfeather - Seasons of Change, Do Re Me - Man Overboard, Ted Mulry Gang - Jump in my Car, Beasts of Bourbon - Chase the Dragon, The Cruel Sea - Better Get a Lawyer, God - My Pal, Hoodoo Gurus - Bittersweet or What's my Scene; Stranded by The Saints
@dannyeddyguitar2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Frank. Wow, I had SO many of those tunes shortlisted. I had Zoot out because it's not their song, then back in because it IS their riff, hahaha. Turn Up Your Radio and Jump in My Car were also both in my top 20 but as much as I love them and their place in our musical story, I personally don't find those riffs original enough. I adore the Cruel Sea and listened over and over trying to find a standout 'riff' but they're more a 'feel' band than a riff band. Same goes for Stranded - not really a 'riff'. I regret overlooking the Hoodoo Gurus though. I was torn between Scene and my personal fave Miss Freelove. And as for Man Overboard - it was one of the first songs I wrote down, but I kept it aside for my Best Oz Bass Riffs...
@frankbreen42062 жыл бұрын

Thanks for a great video Danny. I came via Tom Waits video which is a classic. You mentioned "Beautiful People" in the comments and octaves in the intro riff. Do you think that was a pedal or double tracked guitars? (I am trying to recreate it for a gig soon).
@dannyeddyguitar Жыл бұрын
Hi John. Thanks for all your support mate! As mentioned via Patreon, guitarist extraordinaire and Aussie Crawl producer Dave Briggs, assures me these guitars were tracked separately - not an octave pedal. However, if playing it for a gig I'd advise either a) use a pedal, or b) play the upper octave only. I've tried it many times live playing octaves and it just doesn't sound right. Octaves always sound too smooth or jazzy.
