Just out of curiosity. If you’re giving Joe such a harsh time about not being a chef but being a judge on masterchef, why not point out Matt Preston or Melissa Leong in the Australian version? They’re not trained chefs either? Yes he’s not always the best or nicest judge, but you can’t use the “he’s not a trained chef, therefore he’s not suited to be a judge”-card every time.

Because there is a different between constructive criticism and just insulting and belittling you before even tasting the dish. At least the other 2 judges will taste your dish before judging, but joe will attack you as a person without even tasting the dish and zero constructive criticism

​@@Dankusmemesin his defense he's normally the second or third judge to judge the dish, Ramsey is normally always first and if it's raw or tastes disgusting to Gordon then the others aren't going to enjoy it either. And a lot of the dishes he throws away are crap. Slim didn't even make a real dish she just put random food on a plate with little toothpicks. That's what you serve at a cocktail party not a restaurant and they make it very clear that is what they are looking for. If you are going to make it in that industry you are going to have to learn that flavor and presentation are everything and people are going to be harsh...take it and move on.

That also goes for any talent show. American idol, America's got talent, x factor. They have all used people that don't qualify into the categories that they are judging. Heidi Klum, Simon Cowel, Sofia Vergara, Howard Stern, Pierce Morgan, Sharon Osborne, Randy Jackson. Just to name a few. Three of which either work in music production or management, but they aren't singers, so how can they judge singers. Heidi is a fashion model how can she judge non fashion models. If you work in the industry you can judge others in the industry. His is a restauranteur meaning he owns restaurants and can judge food that may be served in a restaurant one day.

@vanapirarayne738 but the difference is gordon insults the dish and gives feedback on the plate, joe on the hand insults the person which is not what a judge is suppose to do. If he would judge the food and not just hurl insults at the person and degrade them i would be fine with, but thats not the case. Also you say joe is usually 2nd or 3rd, a lot of the judges are like that, yet the judges like graham for example will still taste the dish before judging it

@@Dankusmemes Simon Cowel did the same thing before his son was born and people had no issue with him insulting people's looks instead of their singing abilities. But now it's suddenly a problem because people are way too sensitive nowadays. Food critiques do the same thing. They will say the food was bad, but not tell you how. Because most if not all are not chefs they will also criticize your plating the way the food looks when it arrives and the restaurants appearance. He is literally showing them how a critique would behave. Also they have made it very clear they want restaurant quality and for the home cooks to listen to what they tell them during the cooking process which is why they walk around. Also they are eating cold food, so of course no one really wants to eat that. Joe is just doing the third judge a favor by not letting them taste cold crap. If it's cold and tastes good that is different, but a cold subpar dish is not worth it. He is just being a food critic.

You should've included when Joe said to Gerron on how he was right and how Joe was wrong, and that Joe was on Gerron's journey.

I definitely don't like Joe Bastianich. He's rude just to be rude. He doesn't give any useful criticism. At least Gordon, Graham and the other future judges tell the cooks how they can improve their dish while telling them what they did wrong. Joe doesn't have any special training to be a judge. Working in your family's restaurant doesn't make you a renowned chef.

Food critiques aren't chefs either...they are just people with pens. But people still follow their words like its gospel about if a restaurants food is bad. Saying Joe shouldn't judge food because he isnt a chef is a stupid argument. Yeah hes an ass. Also that coat check thing was a tasteless joke...even Ramsey could tell Joe wasnt being serious.
