There was a kid I used to go to middle school with whose teeth were like this or worse. Everyone used to make fun of him n called him all sorts of names until we all found out he was being severely abused at home n was never given a tooth brush or tooth paste. I've battled depression for most of my adult life. When I am feeling low, I tend to become a recluse. I get to the point where talking, much less anything else is a priority for me. I've never had my teeth get to this state, but no one knows what this person has been through. Extreme poverty, abuse, neglect... There's no way of knowing if this person was ever taught basic dental hygiene. I'm sure this person was scared and probably in a lot of pain once the numbing wore off, but I bet the relief they feel after seeing the final results changed their life forever. People assume that a person that is in a position like this must be a lazy slob or mentally handicap in some way. We shouldn't be so quick to judge. Kindness costs us nothing, and it can make a positive impact in someone's life. Be that person, be better, do better!!!

@katepearson27303 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with u on that, I also hope u r doing well, also it is sad when people assume that other people who have teeth with tarter on is lazy and don’t brush their teeth, BUT I had a friend who was the cleanest person I ever met, and she had it on some of her teeth, she was always eating healthy, she brushed her teeth all the time etc etc, and she was so embarrassed about it and didn’t know why she had it or how to get rid of it, when I told her to see her dentist about it because it was getting her down, she was only worried that the dentist would be upset with her or think she was doing something wrong, but the dentist said it’s very common, and that some people seem to get it worse than others, but I sat and watched her having them cleaned like this guy on the video, and it was very therapeutic 😂, she was beaming once she had it done, she was constantly smiling all the time!! But it goes to show that it’s not because someone is lazy, or because they don’t brush their teeth at all, the dentist did say some people are more prone to it like this, and some people get it but it’s not as bad, it’s just one of them things I suppose, sadly some people are so quick to judge others, I think people who are so quick to judge others are people who don’t feel adequate in their own lives, and as the saying goes, “people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones!!” I really do wish u well, and I hope things with u are good too, God bless to u, Xx Kate 🇬🇧 Xx

I am a dental nurse. It annoys me to see the comments under videos like this, making fun of the patient or saying they are disgusting etc… not everyone has the privilegie to know how to take care of the teeth, and not everyone CAN. There are people who are mentally ill, for example have depression who cant get themselves to brush their teeth 4 minutes a day.
@deepblue92 жыл бұрын
i've past throw depression, never stopped brushing my teeth, everybody have the information now a days to know about dental care, if u can aford an smartphone, that EVERYBODY has one, u have the information on one click, today, that one who is ignorant it is cause he wants to.
@ceciliaj31482 жыл бұрын
@@deepblue9 YOU are the ignorant one. I have met patients with depression, and also i have been depressed myself. Some depressed people barely even eats, they just sleep. They dont shower for weeks sometimes. How do you expect them to brush their teeth two times a day and floss???! That can literally feel like a huuuuge task to do. And also just because you have the knowlege of brushing your teeth, dont mean everyone else in the world does. Not everyone in the world has a toothbrush or toothpaste, and not everyone get taught the routine of brushing their teeth from their parents. Also there are other reasons for not brushing your teeth than depression. Disabilities for example.

@Johanna Cecilia, I appreciate your compassionate response to the patient in this video. Even if we’ve been through something similar when it comes to depression or other challenges to mental health, we can’t know the severity of the experience of another person, or what other exacerbating factors may be present in their lives. I’m glad the person in this video received such a thorough and competent dental cleaning. There is this "motto" or sentence "it's better to do a little than nothing". Having depression is not an easy adventure but take an quest to do at least a little bit. Althiguht it has no cavities, but the tartar pushed the gum upwards/downwards which shoes up more of the teeth. It makes the teeth much more looser as the gum is suppose to held the teeth in its place. Also, there's gao between the teeth cause by the tartar which makes it easier to leave food residue there. I worked with a gal who hadn't been to a dentist in 30+ years. When she came close to you to talk, the smell was just horrendous. She finally went in, and it took multiple appointments to remove all the build up. Shortly after, all her teeth started going crooked because the build up had held them in place. She said she felt so much better though.
