Demos should just be the norm. Sure I can read a review and pass judgment but I’d rather get a taste of a game before deciding if it’s worth the purchase or not for me personally. Who better to judge than yourself? Demos are great!

Developing a demo means working on two different versions of a single game, not to mention datamining being an issue. This is why they don't always occur.

I always appreciate it when games had demos, I wish more games had them. For those of you whose local libraries have video games, borrowing them can also be a good way to test out a game if it doesn't have a demo!

I really enjoy when games have demos, especially of theres no physical versions you can borrow. Its give you a better idea than if you only watch a lets play of the game since you can really feel it.

Fun story about Switch Demos. I was not completely sold on Metroid: Dread. It looked fantastic, but I didn't know if the game was for me. I tried the demo and I accidentally did a sequence break while playing. This allowed me to play the game for over an hour and I got to beat the first boss. That extra time with the game completely sold me on it and I bought it that same night. Absolutely amazing game. :D

Was that before or after the patch tho? Cos they updated the demo to include Corpius after a couple ppl sequence broke it. Either way tho, absolutely agree, I had never played a proper 2D game before, let alone a Metroid one, tried this demo and fell in love with the series 🔥

When I first got my Switch I was impressed by *types of demos* it offers, basically all demos must start at the very beginning of a game spanning around 20 minutes in length to an hour on average depending on game genre. Pretty neat since they let you carry your progress over to the full game if you decide to buy the game from the eshop.

yeah, most games are pricy. Try adding games to your wish list and then regularly check that list for sudden discounts.

Demos should be way more common. I get that it would present a financial risk, but it could also pitch the game massively.

@@sparkypack Absolutely! I think 80-95% of flagship games should have a demo, even if it is a very limited one. For example, Breath of the Wild could have a demo that is just The Great Plateau, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe could have just the Mushroom and Shell cups, and Super Mario Odyssey could have just the Hat Kingdom and only half of the Power Moons there.

Monster Hunter Rise and Stories 2 had great demos also. Not a fan of turn based games will most likely will get stories 2 because of the demo. Dragon Quest XI looks great one of the very best art styles of any game for me, but just find the game play boring. Dread is good prime is better I thought that while I was playing dread but also thought it might be how old prime is and I was looking at it through rose colored glasses and after playing it again prime is king. In every way prime has more dimensions.

I've always appreciated demos, and have a special place in my heart for Metroid Dread's, as playing that made me fall in love with an entirely new genre and franchise. Now playing through the old Metroids!

Dragon quest builders (2) is such a good game, I remember buying it not having any idea what it was about at the time I only played trough the story of dragon quest 3. But dragon quest builders in someways is just minecraft but better imo. Everyone who hasn't played this game yet and is into creative adventure games I really recommend at least checking out the demo it is 100% worth to give a shot.

I don’t really buy demos anymore because I’ve developed a bit of a backlog and don’t need to buy any new games before TOTK. That said, one of the better demos I’ve played is the Inversus Deluxe demo. Addictive gameplay, and it’s a game I never would have thought to buy if it wasn’t for the demo. I ended up getting the full game when it went on sale.

I miss the days when you could get a demo disc with 4-5 demos along with your monthly gaming magazine. There are a few games I really like that I only got because the demo won me over. I know that probably wouldn't work on Switch the way it did on PS1/PS2 but still it would be nice.

Mario strikers battle leagues demo is basically the game for free because you can play a quick game for about 6 times, and then you can delete the data from settings, and then you have another 6 tries and you do it over and over

The Nintendo Switch does actually have a n internet browser on it, but I believe it's a hidden feature and there's a couple menus to use it. I'm sure a quick internet video, will show how to use it. Great interview and God bless this woman for being a voice we need!
