My husband used to think I was "cheap", we were definitely opposites with money. He thought putting into a 401k and paying our home off early was unheard of! It took him being laid off to open his eyes to being financially stable. We have never rocked and rolled better as a couple and finances. Our net worth keeps climbing, mortgage is 4 years away from payoff, maxing out Roth IRAs, 20% goes into 401ks and we budget! Our emergency fund can cover well over a year of expenses. We now plan on having our second baby soon. Life feels so good when you tackle it together and don't let the noise of society distract you! They're trying to trick you!! Buy me, you need this.. it's all BS!! Stay the course!

The best way to start living a minimalistic life, but be mindful of the time you can consume because of thinking what better deals to make. Be also efficient with the time and if possible, make it that you're still earning doing nothing..

I don't know if it's good to equate poor people with automatically being bad with money. Some people with low incomes are more frugal and waste less than those with more. I haven't always had lots of money but I've always been wise (not perfect) with what I've had.

I feel like the fixation with “millionaires do _____ so you should do it” is really weird. Society cannot be structured that way. Trying to be a millionaire isn’t what we should be shooting for. We should be shooting for having self control, becoming a better person, living within our means, and making smart financial decisions while correcting poor financial decisions. I had the same problem with the 4 hour work week. Society cannot function if everyone tries to do that. We need people who work jobs that can’t be condensed into a 4 hour work week. Most of the jobs needed to keep society functioning cannot be condensed in that way. The focus should instead be on improving your life in a realistic and beneficial way within your unique life circumstances.

You can tell how poor an area is by the number of cash stores. There are at least 8 in a 3 mile radius in an area near me. Its gross and preditory that they target poorer communities. I screamed at an old friend for years that they were costing her more that they helped.

I was very shocked and also jealous when we were showing couples around the house we were selling. They were young couples freshly moving out of their parents houses into, what for us was a 3rd step house. When I left my parents I rented the smallest flat in the world then a 2 bed tiny house and finally bought a 3 bed semi. It seemed mental to have such a big responsibility as your first home. I am glad I took the stepping stones in house size and cost to learn about how I actually live outside of my parents rules and rituals before investing in something so massive and long term.

Hey! Love your videos! I know this is an old video, but I thought I would post this comment anyway. You mention online grocery shopping as one of the things that costs you more money in the long run, but for us, that is not the case. We live a ways away from town, so it cost us probably $20 in fuel to go grocery shopping. My husband owns his own business (no employees) and I help him with that. We also have 4 kids that I homeschool. Time is very precious to us, and I get bad anxiety driving/being around lots of people. We pay $99 a year for a Fresh Pass membership at Safeway. With that membership, we don't pay any delivery fees, we get many perks with the membership such as, 5% off Organics brand, better pricing on TONS of items, points that you can redeem for a certain amount of money off your order or free items, at least $5 off your groceries every month, etc... On top of that, they have better prices than most stores I shop at. When I shop online, I tend to buy only what I need because I don't see things in the store and impulse buy. So... all that to say, we save a LOT of money by grocery shopping online, and it saves time and anxiety. Sorry, that was so long-winded. 😂😂😂 Thank you for all the videos! There is so much good information in them!

With respect, as a homeless man, I wouldn't have any means of shelter without monthly payments. I went from sleeping under a bridge to sleeping in a car, and my earning capacity increased exponentially as a direct result. I may be poor, but this is what works in our day and age.

We took early retirement in 2002. We know people in their late 70's who still have to work. Delayed gratification and knowing the difference between needs and wants is very important. We never had big cars or a fancy house. I brought my lunch to work, a lot of people went out every day. Many coworkers bought lottery tickets every day. Yours, Tina, Al's wife

I have to say, that having groceries delivered, has really been a good thing for me, and many like me, who are older, and not so inclined to be among other shoppers at the store, during the pandemic. It's still an option to either pick up my order at the store for a few dollars, or for a few more, have it delivered. These ideas are great, but apply mostly to younger people getting started. Great tips, though, so keep them coming.

Education I see as an asset or skills because it can be put on a work portfolio, resume, can be used to help other people or solve other problems, and provides a level of happiness being part of the school community and having a consistent routine. Also, independent learning.Same with work out equipment because I am using it to increase my health. Liabilities are things that don't ad much value or temporary satisfaction. I am not guilt free of this but getting better with age.

Delayed gratification is foreign to most people these days. We are looking at possibly having to replace a truck we've had since 2008 due to engine issues. Almost makes me sick to think of getting back into car payments since both of our vehicles have been paid off for years. Unfortunately we can't live with 1 car due to the distance we have to drive for work. We have been working on paying off debt so don't have much saved yet. Praying the truck holds out for another year at least. Debt stinks lol.
@d.mauldille1388

there are used trucks out there that can be reliable, plus it might be worthwhile to just replace your engibe. sure the 5000 bill sucks but that bill vs 45000 for a car loan might be the wiser descision. I got into car payments for the exact reason you are about to, worst part is after that I managed to fix the issue wuth my brakes afterwards and presto my old car was good again but it was too late. dont mKe the mistake I did.

@@site_is_down - but the income streams they have are investments, they are above all protecting and growing the value of what they already have, ordinary people can’t do that because they don’t have capital. Very few people get rich this way, people get rich in the first place by building a business, which is not at all about multiple income streams, it’s about dogged commitment to a single enterprise. For example Elon Musk (PayPal), Bill Gates (Microsoft), Jeff Bezos (Amazon). Getting rich is about doing one thing really well, staying rich is about holding diverse income streams (i.e. investments).

I am going to disagree with you on the don't take advice from poor people. If someone saw what I make, they might dismiss my advice because my income is well below that of an average US citizen and they could perceive me as being "poor." But I have zero debt and savings. There are people who make 2,3,5 times what I make and drowning in debt. If someone offers advice, no matter what their income, take it in stride but don't dismiss it based on personal bias.

Yes! I too have savings and zero debt. And my house is paid off. I did this alone, working minimum wage jobs. If they don't want my advise, that's their loss. Someone with a low income can have a higher net worth than someone with a much higher income. It all comes down to management.

Payday loans are really helpful for people who have bad credit. They can build up bad credit by paying that really high interest, and there are some people who have emergencies that make the interest a legitimate expense. It sucks that people have to be in this position. Plus, we can't tell people in a free country what agreements they're allowed to make with other people. As long as nobody's lying.
@lisalamphier1410
@lisalamphier1410 2 жыл бұрын
@@stadler72 If you have bad credit, it's doubtful that you can handle a pay day loan. If you can't even save money for an emergency, how are you going to pay off a payday loan? People with good money management skills don't need payday loans. That's the paradox. There are much better ways to build credit, than payday loans.
@stadler72
@stadler72 2 жыл бұрын
@@lisalamphier1410 I understand all that. But I don't think you're speaking for most situations. People have to be responsible for themselves. If they use payday loans gratuitously, there's just going to compound their financial problems. But for some people who have just had a divorce or a bankruptcy or something like a medical bill, those are great examples of people who can use payday loans or appliance rental and other things like that to record some on time payments. And if those companies didn't charge a high interest rate, they couldn't cover their risk. That money simply wouldn't be available for those people in those situations. It sucks the people aren't better at money, but shutting down payday lending isn't going to solve the problem, and it's going to make things harder for people who can use it responsibly.

Great tips as always! Totally agree.. "Only borrow money/get a loan for a house morage". (maximum for a car as well). That's how my parents brought me up.. . All other stuff you only buy if you have the cash!

@@kimgordon3695 I DID put the car in the cash category!! .. I ONLY put the HOUSE in the LOAN category! (but I said.. If it's not possible to buy a car with cash, then that was the ONLY other thing my parents always said might have to be bought with a loan!)... Luckily I have never had to, but that doesn't mean it is possible for everyone.

“Average” millionaires have 7 income “streams” because these aren’t jobs. They are not working, like the rest of us are-they simply have 7 sets of employees making them rich, as you said. Nobody “earns” millions of dollars, they take that value from millions and millions and millions of workers :)

I agree! That's why it's always advisable to have additional income streams, and better if we are earning passive income additional to that with our primary source.

A big ticket item I have seen people purchase is an RV. While they are busy going to work to make payments on it they may only use it 2 weeks out of the year. Storage and other upkeep adds to it. Renting one is much wiser for those same 2 weeks

Having a job is a great way to start. As soon as possible that job needs to end. Then pick something and invest MASSIVELY into that ONE thing. Once you hit your stride and you can WALK AWAY and it still operates profitably, you have a business. THEN you can start income stream number 2. Trying to make money 7 ways before you have one figured out is stupid. Don’t even try. I’m 44, retired and living in Asia from this strategy.
