It's worth knowing that a lot of the pronunciations she's giving are the Castilian Spanish pronunciations for words with a "c" in the middle of the word that she pronounces with a "th" sound. In most of Latin America, they do not pronounce that "th" sound.

Her accent is fine because she is teaching people who don't understand Spanish. Main goal: Communication. When learning a language, reading and comprehension come first - Accent is always the last to be formed. I would rather a Spanish person learn English with an English accent, for example, than learning nothing at all. Obviously, I am an English speaker and have no issues communicating with English speakers from all over the world.

Can we say qué recomiendas instead of qué recomienda?
@SturmZebra134 жыл бұрын
It might be possible, but I would stick to the latter one, since it's the imperative, so it's rather a "recommend something" instead of "what do you recommend?" with the first one not being considered rude in Spanish This comes from a guy who learned the language for three years, but really doesn't know about those one in a million cases and speaking culture, so... Take it or doubt it :D

I'm a native spanish speaker, so maybe I can help you. The first question form you wrote "¿qué recomiendas?" is right. It is used when you talk with a friend, a familiar, or other person to which you do not need to be formal with (it uses the pronoun "tú"). The second form "¿qué recomienda?" is used when you ask to someone you should refer to formally (this form uses the pronoun "usted"). Although, I would rather use "¿qué me recomiendas?" (informal, pronoun "tú") meaning or "¿qué me recomienda?" (formal. pronoun "usted"), both meaning "What do you recommend me?". If you want an imperative form to tell someone to recommend something, you should use "recomienda algo" (recommend something) or "recomiéndame algo" (recommend me something), or when talking formally "recomiende algo" or "recomiéndeme algo", with the same meaning.

If you are teaching intermediate level phrases, there is no need to repeat them so slowly and unnaturally. Intermediate learners are capable of reproducing these phrases when spoken at a normal speed.

El Castellano ha sido anglisado un poco? Estabe un profesor de inglés en Madrid en en los ochenta y las palabras eran 'preferido' y '¿Que tiempo hace?' en vez de 'favorito' y '¿Como está el tiempo?'. ¿Y la palabra 'nevera'? . ¿Viene de América Latina, quizás? Pare mi, la palabra era 'frigorifico'. Tengo curiosidad.

Fyi, people who are from Spain say the "c" or "s" sounds as "th". That's why she sounds like she's saying "th" sounds. If you're trying to learn a different region's dialect, look into their accents to sound better.
@paulohagan33094 ай бұрын
If you learn the 'th' sound first as I did, it's easy to substitute the 's' sound later.

@theautumngracee3 жыл бұрын
¡Hola! Es "Muchas gracias para videos de español" no "Muchas gracias porque videos él español." Porque 'Porque' es 'because' eñ español. You could say la frase "Muchas gracias porque videos él español" pero es confusing to the beginner spanish speakers due to it being more direct, instead of conversational which is what you are trying to achieve in "¡Hola! ¿cómo estás señorita?". In direct translation it is, "Thank you because (of) the spanish videos." Que tenga un lindo dia!
