This one from the UK.... Within the Metropolitan Police District, excluding the City of London, it is illegal to walk down the streets whilst carrying a plank of wood as well as poles, ladders and placards. The ban extends to casks, tubs, hoops, wheels, ladders, poles and placards. And if you thought you would get around the rule by rolling your tub along, that's banned too. The law is in place to prevent nuisance and increase ease of passage on public thoroughfares.

In massachusetts we have some pretty weird laws.. I'm not sure if they're enforced, but they definitely exist. For example: u can't carry a bathtub across the Boston commons. There are similar laws in the UK regarding not being drunk in the pub. I used to work in pubs and I had to refuse service to people who were already drunk and offer them soft drinks instead. I also worked at places that would make people leave if they were 'too drunk' irrespective of their behaviour. It''s irresponsible in my opinion since at least there is help available in the pub should someone fall over and there's far less risk of assault whilst in the pub, even drunk people are humans and should be able to wait somewhere safe while they get a taxi home.

Here in the US, if you want to be assaulted, your best chances are to go to a bar (pub), get hammered, then run off at the mouth to anyone. I have watched bartenders join in on the fight. All while one person literally fell over and received no help from anyone until police arrived to arrest and take him to jail. We are what anyone would call, "ass-backwards" over here. And I won't bother getting into what a "roundabout" does to us. I'll just say that there are people still stuck in one from 3 years ago.

@@rolandwhite8669 Politicians have tried laws that attacked single mothers. About 20 years ago, New Brunswick required women name the "father" and refused welfare benefits without proof that legal steps were taken to get money out of the man. If the woman didn't know who (e.g. ONS, r@pe) she wouldn't get any social support. So women organized and started naming the premier as the father. ALL women did that. The law was quickly removed.

Personally I don’t think rapists should have any rights to the child they fathered . Can you imagine the kid wondering why mom and dad live apart and the rapist says “son I have something to tell you. You were conceived when I raped your mother. That’s a real good father/son relationship starter. So after the kid has one all these workshops about how to treat a woman on a date he goes to see dad and finds out dear old dad is not only a criminal, but one of the worst kind. Obviously these laws are made by men. Who else would think up this idiotic idea of the boy’s stickiness to together!!

#22 is a law in South Australia too, but more specific, a pub or bar is not permitted to serve alcohol to a visibly inebriated person. It makes sense to a degree, as it is a way to cut down on alcohol-induced violence. #19 is a bad law for one reason, if you've had a serious falling out with your parents, why would you want to visit them? That would be far too stressful for both parties involved, but given China, I doubt there's exceptions for such circumstances. #11 is most likely an attempt to cut on traffic pollution, that's what I can at least glean from the law anyway. It does seem very hard to enforce, borderline impossible. As for some other dumb laws in Australia; 1. It is illegal to dress up as Batman and Robin. I have no idea how this is enforced or even why it's a law in the first place. 2. If you put up a poster for a missing item, you are not allowed to put a "No Questions Asked" clause on it. 3. If you arrive at a pub or bar by horse, the owners of the property are legally required to feed your horse for the duration of your visit. 4. In Western Australia, you were unable to own more than 50kg of potatoes at once, the law was repealed in 2016. 5. If you decide to wear a bikini on the Gold Coast, the overall material for said bikini cannot *_exceed_* 6 square inches.

It can still he there just not enforced. Some law enforcement think its stupid and don't worry about it so it's forgotten about but still on the books. Like in York England for example, lawfully it's legal to shoot a Scotsman with a crossbow in the small hours of morning. No one does it nor would police alow it but no one ever got arround to changing the law.

Here's one for you:In the UK's Houses of Parliament, the House of Commons to be exact. Knight errant gone wrong: Don't don your shining armor and head to Parliament in the UK. The Statute forbidding Bearing of Armour (1313) Act still prohibits metal suits within the hallowed halls, a legacy of medieval power struggles.

In Oklahoma duct tape is an age restricted product. It is unlawful for people under the age of 18 to purchase duct tape. This law was passed after teenagers were smoking duct tape to get high. I found this out when my middle school age children tried to buy it for a legitimate school project and I had to buy it for them.

In the UK you have to be over 18 to buy any kind of knife or sharp scissors. Once I also had to wait for a shop assistant to fetch the pinking shears, from a store room, because a haberdashery department in a department store, would not put them on display, on the shelves, because people were stealing them to do who knows what with.

If I can’t hold fish in a suspicious manner what’s the point in holding them? As for the license plate thing my initial thought was it was intended to reduce traffic congestion. As for laws against nudity, “decency” is a asinine concept. You’re not born wearing clothes. Nudity is natural. It’s idiotic prudish ideals that make it seem bad. Simply being naked shouldn’t be a crime in and of itself.

The one about getting drunk in bars. Someplace in the US, it's illegal to *walk* drunk. If a bar owner was smart, they'd open a small motel next to, or above the bar. A rule being, if the customer is gonna get drunk, they have to rent a room in advance. They could be escorted to the room to sleep it off. Even have a few pay showers and someplace to buy fresh clothes when they wake up. Bar owner would get all the business of anybody planning to get drunk that night. Last one. So if the aliens appear and start killing people, we have to ask them nicely to stop murdering us?

Nebraska has a law that says, "If two trains approach each other at a road crossing both shall come to a complete stop and neither shall leave until the other is gone. Massachusetts has a law that if you are driving a car and meet a horse being ridden or driven, you shall stop, take your car apart, and hide it in the bushes until the horse has gone past.

Just FYI, the law in the Philippines about what days you can drive on the highways is meant to reduce traffic congestion. If you have ever been there, you would understand why. It actually makes the traffic here in Los Angeles look light in comparison. While visiting in February 2020, the car service we hired was actually pulled over because the plate had the number not allowed on that specific day. He let the driver off with a warning when he saw a bunch of American tourists in the van. I think the driver told the policeman that we were family of the car companies owner.

The law about cars with certain registration plates not being allowed to drive on specific days of the week is very sensible, and it has been considered for the UK also. It effectively reduces traffic by 20% on weekdays which reduces the amount of traffic during rush hour, thus reducing overall emissions and congestion.

I'm an Aussie, but my favourite ridiculous law is a British one. Technically, it's illegal to eat chocolate 🍫 in public. Yet they invented vending machines to sell chocolate at train stations 🚉 . So you can buy a chocolate bar while waiting for a train 🚆, but you're allowed to eat it. Go make sense of that one. A rather sad one is from Singapore. Apparently, you have to let yourself be beaten up or killed. Because if you defend yourself, you'll be arrested and sent to prison.

There's a law in Mobile, Alabama that prohibits high heels within the city limits. It's a protection ordinate to prevent the city from being sued if someone should injure themselves while walking in ridiculous high stilettos on city property. Personally, considering some of the frivolous suits I've seen, I can understand why this law was created. However, there's a law in Florida that prohibits people from tying an alligator to a fire hydrant.
