I haven't seen anyone point this out yet, but at the start of the gauntlet levels / arena levels where you kill a bunch of enemies, the start theme from Mario Bros plays. Also the world map theme in Castle Bowser is a remix of one of the past final boss battles, I can't remember exactly but I think it's from the Bowser fight in NSMBU

I was depressed when I first bought this cause I didn't do any research. I had no clue what the game has to offer until my nieces visited and asked for a game.
