Following the death of Alexander, his vast domains were split up among four of his military commanders, and thus commenced the age of Greek influence throughout the Mediterranean World. The eleventh chapter of Daniel, though complicated and challenging to read, provides insight into this era and evidence of God's providence in protecting his people during turbulent times. A miracle just happened. KZbin put your videos in my play list last night. I listened to you speaking about Alexander's conquest of Persia . This morning I found this video about Daniel 11, which I have been trying to understand for 43 years. Thank you very much for your wonderful teaching. And on top of that your sharing about Daniel's weakness and the strengthening , boldness to approach the Holy throne of GOD, was a powerful message for me. I sincerely thank God for you.❤

The only thing that's missing is how Alexander the IV died, the reason being that the Argeads, Alexander the Greats' family, were betrayed by Cassander and they were butchered. Olympia, Alexander IV, and Roxana (Alexander's wife), were killed by Cassander when he took power, that is why he is often called Cassander the Traitor.

When he says, "Ya know...", he sounds a lot like Jack Benny, when he used to give his talks. Those old time comedians had a common cadence. One person observed that Bob Hope interspersed his stand-up routine with "Ya see" and "Ya know." When Bruce Gore says, "Ya know...", I hear Jack Benny, ya know.

I would advise describing all Egyptian actions in the Syrian Wars as Ptolemaic victories/defeats/intrigues, etc. an all Syrian victories/defeats/intrigues as Seleucid victories/defeats, etc. because it better describes the Macedonian/Greek cores of these two dynasties and the sources from which each side drew to man their phalanx armies. I realize successors to Seleucus Nicator would take on differing names throughout the centuries but the empire was always seen and labeled by its founder. It may seem tit for tat but I think it easily mislead many people not exactly well read in the annuls of history to have Pharaonic visions that would be 2000 years out of place if that makes any sense. Both regimes were careful with arming the local populace for the purposes of war. Ptolemy IV's surprise victory against Antiochus III was aided by his having armed 20,000 or more local Egyptian soldiers as Sarissa wielding Phalangites famous for forming up those massive wall of pikes before enemy armies. After the successful conclusion to that battle in which Ptolemy succumbs to his wounds, the Egyptian soldiers went rouge and turned on their Ptolemaic masters.

***** I guess in a nutshell I was trying to emphasize that the actions and activities of the successor general-turned-Kings of Alexander's partitioned empire called the Diadochi and their successors would levy armies of mercenary soldiers from Macedonia (the most prized infantry of the Greek world), the many City-States of Greece and to a lesser extent even recruits from Western Anatolian areas like Aetolia, Caria, Bithynia, and Phrygia. Crucially they all were Greek speaking people in contrast to the indigenous populations throughout the Fertile Crescent; i.e. Syria, Judah, Mesopotamia, etc. and the so called "Upper Satrapies" of the far east that Seleucus Nicator quickly found would be impossible to retain power let alone expect to receive annual tribute. This was no less true in Ptolemey's Egypt. As mentioned before Ptolemey paid dearly for arming 20,000 native Egyptians at the Battle of Raphia. While it undoubtedly gave Ptolemy IV the margin of victory, he would not be able to relish this win due to the mortal wound he sustained during the fight against the Seleucids. This was probably just as well as the 20,000 native Egyptians he armed for the battle instantly began an insurrection against the regime that was difficult to put down and certainly acted to pretty much undo anything of benefit and prestige the win would have bestowed to the Kingdom.

I have a theory about historical folk who have frustrating dynastic names. God didn't want to honour them, so he confused their parents, and gave them all the same handle. It's just so unreasonable, what were they thinking? Surely Ptolemy the 54th must have suspected that his great deeds would be lost in the endless fog of Ptolemys?

I randomly ended up here while looking for some historical info to hear as background and immersion while playing a slow-paced grand-strategy game in the Hellenic/early-Roman period. I found the whole thing odd but interesting nevertheless, though the context of the lecture hit me at the end without me realising that was the context of it.

186 BCE was the year of the Bacchanalia in Rome. To some folks (me), this date and event are one of the founding events of the christian faith. Carthage, the Empire of the Phoenicians, had lost the second Punic war, and Hannibal had fled to the court of Antiochus III. I believe Carthage, always a mercenary power and highly culturally advanced for the age, tried to defeat Rome by taking over their uniquely evolving temples. If they could not beat them militarily, they would take over the senate by bribery and by displacing their indigenous faith and law. It is interesting, because 186 BCE is the origin of many behaviours we tend to see as "christian", yet they predate christ by nearly two hundred years, and do not fit with the cultures of the levant. Specifically, Roman priestesses begin to celebrate monogamous family life in their erotic poetry, and sacred prostitution is no longer a source of temple revenues. The law and market economy have created wills and wealth, and now the temples find themselves rich from those who die intestate. Now, I'm not saying Jesus was a Roman Intelligence Agency asset. Well, mayhap I am saying that. I'll say it. Doesn't mean he wasn't the son of god and all that. It just means, you know. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts. Trust Rome. Carthage must be destroyed, and it was.

Daniel is easy to understand, it is a companion to Revelation, the end times, the Antichrist, God's salvation of Israel. All scripture is for our learning, but not all is to us, the Church, the Church is not on earth after Revelation 4 and 5. We are at the bema seat of Christ while the rest of the world is going through the tribulation

I enjoyed this presentation. Please Excuse my paraphrasing bible verse'.....Alexander The Great (The Leopard kingdom) was possessed (the dominion he had that his four generals did not) by a demon force (((king of grecia))). The book of Daniel' focus on Alexander has to be more than a mere history lesson for us or God forecasting these events to Daniel. For from Alexanders estate the end time prince of the people, { Not of Alexanders posterity. EVEN for others' (Governments of End times) } The End time Antichrist will arise (Who receives his power from the Beast that rises out of the sea that "LOOKS like UNTO a LEOPARD". This "out of the sea" monster John describes in Rev is a demonic entity the "prince of grecia". How do we know? Because Gaberial said, "lo when I go the prince of grecia comes"..... Also, Book of Rev states, TEN nations having one mine. Currently 10 nations claim the ability to send a person or object' into "outer space". USSR was the first in 1959. 2012 saw the last the join, North Korea. Remember all the fan fair, Mayan calander, December 2012 blah blah blah.... that event, IMO, was the North Korean' Joining the alliance completing the 10. One more thing, there are seven Kings. 5 are fallen. One is (During Johns time Roma) the last is of the SEVEN and is even the EIGHTH. Leopard + looks like a Leopard? King of grecia for Alexander and the prince for man of perdition. The last kingdom, the ten toe kingdom, are ALL the demonic forces (who worked behind the scenes) erected to destroy Israel came throughout earth history [[[ ONE At A Time ]]]. What is coming to the earth is ALL these mothers at the same time. Dragon, seven heads, Ten crowns. I could go on... But, to drop a dime: antichrist shall come out of the Seleucid kingdom That is Gods point of so much dialog on a dead mans kingdom up to today
