That's definitely woodchip wallpaper on that ceiling. Two layers of paper with actual wood chips sandwiched in between. On the continent its popularity peaked in the 70s and early 80s but some people continued to have it installed well into the 90s. I once had the dubious pleasure of helping strip an entire mid-1990s flat that had woodchip paper on every single wall and ceiling, including the bathroom (above the tiles) and the loo. The place also had carpet in every single room except the bathroom, kitchen and loo.

Popcorn ceiling I think is the American term these ceilings were made in the 1980’s and can contain asbestos in the cottage cheese particles. In Scotland we call it Artex ceilings.

I've always heard that stuff on the ceiling referred to as Wood-Chip, in fact if you put it in google there are still millions of rolls of the stuff for sale in UK decorating shops 😆 I loved the interaction between the cat and the deer, the way they had to make absolutely sure the cat was gone before they could safely resume grazing

I am so blown away by the beauty of the land, water and colour. I find the ruggedness calming, stunning and mesmerizing at the same time. I absolutely adore the sound of the trees and vegetation blowing in the wind and I can feel the fierce cold on my face and hands. What a wonderful and delightful journey you are taking us on. A very heart felt thank you. 🇨🇦

Family friend died from cleaning an old house the had bat droppings. The masks are essential. She died within a couple of weeks when exposed to the dust. Gloves don't hurt either. One would have never dreamed it could be that bad. Glad you are being careful. That first saw should have worked. Called a coping saw, I used mine quite often for jewelry making. They do take time and patience 😊

The Woodchip wallpaper was also called or manufactured by a company known as Analglypta ( Anilglipter ). Its only redeeming feature was it could be overpainted several times. Its downside was it was usually a pig to get off the walls when you wanted to remove it. Polystyrene tiles was probably the worst product to remove from a wall or ceiling with Anylglipta running a close second. The wooden ceiling will look fantastic when you have finished . 👍😀

Great progress! How much insulation do you have in the roof? Are there any wind breaking layers? Regarding the door, I suspect you have to reset the whole frame, and do it properly from start. The spirit level you use is very short, and probably not very accurate. It's fine for adjusting pictures on the wall, but you would be better off with one a bit larger, made of metal. They are cheap, and you will have plenty of opertunity to use it in the near future.

Take the nail out of the middle and bottom hinges. Place a wedge under the forward corner of the door till gap on back of door to frame is even top to bottom. Then bend the hinges to line up with the new placement of the door. Then replace the nails back into the hinges.

Someone has most likely commented on your method used to straighten the door frame, I would think it is necessary to put a wedge under the frame to straighten it and make tightening the frame using the Allen key easier. The surface over the plasterboard on the ceiling I believe is vermiculite.

When you're using a handsaw of any kind that has a pistol grip keep your index finger out of the grip and running along the side. It helps to control the direction/accuracy of the cut. Also, as somebody else said - use the whole length of the blade. Not only will it speed up the process but the blade will last longer (you're spreading the wear over the entire length not just a little bit).
@louisel.sinniger2057
@louisel.sinniger2057 7 ай бұрын
Sometimes the middle area of the saw tends to get favored more so that the very ends on each side, so sometimes the ends tend offer better cutting.

We show work being completed on the house when work is being done. As you are watching this in real time, you'll have to anticipate many episodes when we are concentrating on other aspects of our lives. Fundamentally, The Scottish Isle is not a home renovation channel. This is only one aspect of our interest and what we show here. The contractor walked off the job a week before the work was to begin. No reason was given for this, so anything we could say would be pure speculation. You know how builders are.
