Excellent list… but I literally fell out laughing when you talked about mismatch Tupperware! The same gremlin that steals socks must be doing the same thing with Tupperware.

Haha. That’s a good point! Those mismatched socks really bother me! With 4 children, it’s unbelievable how many socks we only have 1 of!

That’s awesome to hear! You won’t regret it!!! The best move we’ve ever had was when we sold/gave away everything first. It sounds like you’re not afraid to be ruthless as you determine what to get rid of! I wish you the very best in your move!

For getting rid if toys, perhaps get the children participating in the move by encouraging them to donate toys they no longer play with. Set up two boxes…a small one for what to keep and a larger one for toys to share. With the right optimistic attitude, the kids can feel good about helping.
@LivingQuiteSimply2 жыл бұрын
Excellent idea! Getting the children involved in decluttering their belongings is so important to help them develop proper attitudes and habits with “stuff.”

I have no move scheduled, but it’s likely to happen in a few years. A move is always a great purge! Meanwhile, I’m always up for purging items in between moves, too ! Cheers ! Liz

Great tips Guys! I'm moving now & downsizing homes.. so difficult.. I wish it was just as easy as throw everything in boxes & you're done but it's *NOT* that simple.. especially when you've been living in one place for so long you accumulate a lot of things. Things really do need to be tossed or donated to have a fresh start in your new 🏡. (as you guys mentioned)👍 Awesome Advise 💯💯 Btw I love the vibe between the 2 of you. It seems so wholesome & Loving. God Bless you & your family.✝️❣️ 🤗 Hello from California 🐻

Hey GoldenBunny90! I know; moving would be so much easier if we could throw everything in boxes and be done with it!!!! I think packing is a lot harder than unpacking!! But clearing away everything we don’t need or love makes the unpacking SO much more enjoyable (We’ve done it both ways!) and we wish you the very best in your decluttering endeavor! We hope this move is a blessing for you and your family! Thank you so much for your kind words! It brightened our day!

GREAT JOB!!!! I know what it can be like to be rushed in a move, but you are AWESOME for doing the work now to declutter before settling in and getting comfortable amidst it. We've been doing a serious purge the past few weeks, and need to finish that. Things accumulate so quickly!

This is so hard to listen too, but so needed. Thank you so much for the encouragement. I struggle so much in this area, or maybe I don’t struggle, but just give up.... 😖 I still have so much stuff from when I was a kid and all through the years. Especially worn out clothes that I still love! The dress that I was wearing in my last video is a dress from when I was a teenager, it really needs to be thrown out, but I still love it! 😫😂 And the books!!!!!! Ugh, boxes of musty books from when I was a kid. 😔
@LivingQuiteSimply4 жыл бұрын
Hi Prayredo Mom! I’m sorry to hear it was a little hard to listen to this video and that you struggle getting rid of certain sentimental pieces, but I’m so glad that you listened anyway! I really want to encourage you that it just takes one item at a time to successfully de clutter. Some pieces are certainly harder than others to get rid of- and some items are worth holding on to or replacing. The sentimental items are often most challenging to part with because of the memories attached to them. In the past I’ve taken a picture of the item or written down the memory I’m treasuring before letting go of something I’ve had difficulty parting with, and made it a lot easier to let go of it. I looked at your last video and saw your dress and it’s so cute, and looks nice and cool for summer! It still fits, and if it’s in good condition, and still a style you love, you may choose to keep it around.
@prayredomom66904 жыл бұрын
Living Quite Simply Thank you so much for the encouragement, and tips to make decluttering easier. The dress just needs a little mending, I think I will mend it and keep it around. I have been wanting to make a new one like it but have not been able to find a blue and white stripe with the same weight fabric. So I will just mend and hang onto the original for now!

Decluttering before moving its a great start to go through your stuff but may I suggest packing early too. Leave the the boxes you think you will need open (try to close most of the boxes) The point of this is that not knowingly you will learn to live without and when you move to your new place you will have already become detached to that item. (Maybe)😉 Well, at least you tried.
@jesusdisciple73432 жыл бұрын
You can try going back to each box and declutter it. You don’t even have to move from house to put everything in boxes and go through everything again.
